what is boost spike?help?

Hello members of evo m

Ok, first I would like to say that I have done several searches and have not found the answer to my problem.

When I put my car in gear and floor my evo and then let go of the gas and put it in neutral (to stop, slow down, ect.) the rpms continue to clime.

for example: im cursing on 3rd and I just floor it and then I let go of the gas totally at like 5000rmp the rpms continue to climb to like 6000rpm then it drops back down to idle. This only happens when the car is under load and then sudenly let off the load.

I think this might be boost spike but I can’t find a good defination of boost spike.

My evo started doing this a few weeks after I installed my ebc(greddy profec b 2)peace of ****

Please help any and all responses will be appreciated

My friends car does the same thing and i don't know what the heck is causing it. Also the Greddy is not a POS, it's how you adjust it. If tuned correctly you can have your turbo spool up faster than stock.

Not sure what the problem is, but it isn't boost spike!

Defenition of boost spike:

When boost pressure temporarily exceeds the set pressure of the boost controler uppone spool up of the turbo. This happens around 4000 RPM on a long pull in a high gear, or around 5000 to 6000 uppon shifts when running through the gears depending on how high an RPM you were turning in the previous gear befor the shift.

you have uhm... that thing, it's called throttle stick or something. if you don't have crazy mods try takin' it to the dealership to fix it. there is a thread somewhere talkin' about cleaning the throttle cable area yourself by spraying carb clearner on it. look for threads saying rising rpms between shifts and throttle cable stick etc. it's been discussed before. also... spell climb right... you might get more hits that way.
