In short, you should know that there are other bolt-on mods that will give a better increase in power than you'll get from swapping this turbo.

For example, a proper ECU recalibration and 3" exhaust will give more power than you'll get from going to this turbo. Add a set of HKS cams to that, and you're even further ahead.

While this turbo is of benefit to those who don't want to spend $2k+ on a big turbo kit, it is not a substitute for solid ECU retuning and core hardware upgrades. Getting this turbo with no other mods would be like putting the cart before the horse, and that's putting it mildly.

Will clipping the turbine wheel on the oem 16G make more power http://linux.forcedperformance.net/m...Code=DSM-Turbo than an unclipped 16G with 10.5 Housing?

There was a guy on here (I believe in Vishnu forum) who gained quite a bit more TQ with the TME turbo which was very nice but I personally wouldn't buy it as the first or only mod.

We have these turbos for $975.

I have talked about clipping the turbine wheel in them. They said because of the make up of the turbine wheel they are only willing to clip it if I will buy it if it ruins it. Told them no problem. This testing will be coming in the future.

Amen.

Buying this (or any) turbo as an only mod makes as much sense as buying a new set of wheels for a car that you don't have.

On Layaway yet..

I couldn't agree more.. There's a reason why there are staged upgrades, so the work and "order" are already planned out to make the best use of resources and money, and less risk of damaging things.
