Max boost for MR

I believe the max boost for the 05 MR was 21.psi which is 1.5 kg/cm2 on the mitsu gauge, however Im wondering what gear is it suppose to hit 1.5? It seems like the highets I can get it to go is 1.0 which is like 14psi, I havn't done anything to the car all I did was switch the radio and gauges.

So if its really 21 psi max has anyone seen it go past 1.0 on their mrs??

You might wanna have it checked out the stock wastegate is at about 14 psi so maybe you have a boost problem and it's only going off the wastegate. Also you might wanna get another boost gauge the stockers are not to accurate.

On a side note 1.5 bar is 21.75psi and 1 bar is 14.5 psi.

I see 1.5 regularly, maybe that's why i'm not getting good gas mileage .

It doesn't stay there, though. It will hit it and then come back to 1.0. Seems to fit in with dyno charts I have seen here on this site.

The WORKS MR has seen spikes above the 1.5 mark on the gauge (probably around 1.55-1.6 bar) that quickly drops down. This is stock software that we hadn't even touched

The Evos use a boost selinoid to control boost. The selinoid regulates how much pressure goes to the actuator. The actuator controls the wastegate in the turbo. When the actuator sees enough pressure (11psi) it will open the wastegate and bleed off exhaust gases (past the turbine wheel) so the turbine doesn't spin any faster and create more boost. The actuator has a stock setting on the 03 evos of 11psi not sure what it is for the MR though

The actuator has a stock setting on the 03 evos of 11psi not sure what it is for the MR though
In other words, if you show the wastegate the true boost pressure it will use its internal spring setting and bleed off at 11-14psi. However, the BCS will block this boost pressure reading so the wastegate sees less than the actual pressure and in turn doesn't bleed off until higher boost levels. If you do not give your wastegate a boost source, you can peg your turbo and reach full boost and climb back down (this is one way to determine if your turbo is functioning properly). Your BCS or the gauge itself may be out of wack... Or somehow you have a boost leak...

Perhaps just take it into the dealership since it's under warranty.

I hit 1.5 bar all the time in my MR...

hmm thanks for the input guys, thanks for explaining the wastegate pressure thing, Im not quite sure if there IS something wrong or not. I guess I can always take it to the dealer but its a pain in the ***...usually gotta make appointment and leave my car there for like the whole day...really sucks....especially I just got the car. The car "feels" like how it did from day one except then i didn't redline, and it reached 1.0 easily. And now Im passed 1k miles and I try to get it to pass 1.0 which seems not possible... so maybe my boost gauge is f'up but other pplz MR gauges seems to hit 1.5 all the time so...maybe there is something wrong......this sucks cuz i only had the car for 3 weeks and I already have to the dealer man.....shiet.
What do you mean by peg my turbO? like redline it ? any other way to determine if my turbo is functioning properly?

Keep the car in 5th gear and around 3k RPM and then floor it you will see the boost build right before your eyes........I did the same thing when I got my boost guage and I would not hit peak boost until I pout it in fifth gear.
