i sold my MR bov due to stalling RPM drop at idle and it didnt hold much boost.......now check this out the guy that bought the MRbov loves it and the car runs better....this is very strange but then again his car is stock and my car has some serious mods....so i think it varies from car to car......for right now my stocker is working fine...... untill i get a ems so i can put a vta bov...

had the MR valve, sold it because of stalling and fluttering. have a forge recirc BACKWARDS with blue spring. hating the flutter (every other combo with shims and springs more flutter).
i think i might spend the extra cash and get the APS

i just recently got a dynoflash and the mr valve was one of my mods. i had some idle issues and once the tune was done my car runs great. but Al from dyno flash did say he has some problems with the mr valves. say what you will about dynoflash (i'm happy with it) but dynoflash has seen enough evo's to know what he is talking about. i think most people will have some idle issues with the mr valve. thanks. i did have the aps blow off valve on my wrx and it ran great.

Anyone who gets the APS bov, please keep us posted. I have the GFB BOV and have stalling issues. Looking for a replacement that works!

also, if you have problems with the bovs, please mention if you have an aftermarket intake or not - i hear alot of problems with aftermarket bovs are from having the aftermarket intake

Exclamation aps bov

just wondering, but can you tune the sound differently on the APS one, because i really want some kind of nice swoosh sound, not too loud, just enough.

I have APS BOV for more than a year and love it. Sound great, no problem holding boost and work well with my car's mods (boost control, HKS 264/272 cams, custom Dynoflash...).

Blitz stalling your car? check this one out.
Blah blah...

I bet right off the bat, this post sounds like an infomercial. Well, you're right. I just wanted to comment on this BOV.

Alittle background: I recently took out the plastic POS and replaced it with the Mr Bov. I noticed right away some characteristics i didnt like, but were tolerable. Then came the engine dipping (frustrating, but somewhat tolerable). Then came the stalling...that drew the line.

My friend suggested using his Greddy S. I liked it for the most part. No stalling, but the nintendo gameboy sounds pissed me off and the flutter when taking your foot off slowly in 5th, annoyed the hell out of me.

I was looking around for BOV and came across the APS. I would love to put MY hose into this thing, clamp it down and go for a joy ride, BUT, BUT! its just way too tiny for this device and it would probably rip me apart.

The design is pretty sexy. Infact, i found myself taking many sexy shots of it and putting it up on the computer in a slideshow as material to touch myself. It made me feel kind of dirty, but then i remembered how much i paid for that prostitute in the city.

The Pro's:
Sound - Very nice. It comes in two flavors so far, from my testing: A Higher pitched, MR/Stocker and a unique sound under light boost, cant really describe it, mixed with air brake, blow off.
Whether you take your foot off slowly, or fast - NO SHUDDER.
Nice Design
Two ports for venting. One under light boost and both for heavy.
Slightly quieter then both the stocker and MR.
No Nintendo came boy sounds
No Stalling
Nice throttle response
etc etc...

Cons:
Price - $270
if you hate aussies, this BOV is not for you.

and now back to touching myself...

edit

hopefully this post will help those in the same boat as i was. or atleast, educate them on an alternative.
Check all your hoses, clamps or the direction of the BOV. Tighten everything.Goodluck!

That is not compressor surge. Actually just variations between vac/boost that cause the valve to barely open and loose boost. Alot of cars do it, the evo does it more so than others. Most valves do it because they are not properly adjusted.

The flutter sound is air being bounced back and forth between the compressor and the valve. If the throttle plate is closed and the valve is closed, the air will head for the compressor (which is already spinning one way) causing the compressor wheel to work harder in order to keep the air going one direction. Some think flutter is harmless but I have a different opinion. It causes unwanted stress on the shaft and can wreak havoc on bearings over time. Another thing, what's the difference between a DV and a BOV?
