Parts for Stroker kit

I see many pre-assembled storker kits out there. The really expensive imported kits and the kits from Buschur, AMS, and few other DSM tuners.
Anybody with some knowledge of these engines answer this?
I know the basics of these kits are a 4G64 crank, good rods (which are same size as stock), and special stroker pistons (which have the pin moved up in the piston).
So, my question; what particular 4G64 crank is used? Are the rod big ends the same size as 4G63? Can I put my own stoker kit together by buying the correct 4G64 crank, rods and stroker pistons? Does the block need any clearancing?

I know the 1g and 2g rotate opposite direction and some piston makers (Wiseco and maybe others), use an offset piston pin, so you can't use these pistons with Evo. But can you use the stroker pistons for a DSM that don't have an offset pin?
I also saw on Buschur's site, that he has his pistons custom made to move the rings to the "correct" placement. Anybody know about this?
The bottom line I'm trying save money. Kits are anywhere from $1900 (AMS) to $5k+ for JDM. I know you can get a new 4G64 crank for under $300, Eagle rods for under $400 and JE stroker pistons for under $600, add bearings and gaskets and you'll be way under least expensive kit.

I think you'll end up spending $1900-$2200 for any "Self sourced" stroker kit too.. So your probably better off getting one from a reputable vendor.

Talk to a local machine shop you trust, tell them what you intend to do, and see if they already have, or can take some measurements and figure out what is needed and what interchanges.. But I don't know that you'll get away that much cheaper.

You sure can.
A standard 4G64 crankshaft, 2 litre rods are what I use in my Evo 6 for the stroker. I utilise the standard Evo main and conrod bearings. However, the pistons can be an offset pin ( not necessary) but make sure its in the right way if you;re using a 2G piston cause of the opposite orientation of the inlet and outlet valves. Get a set of ROSS stroker pistons from Magnus, thats what I've been using for mine. They cause the same as the JE's you mention but a lot better piston design through input from Magnus.. THis way you can still save on the rods and crank..

Pauter rods, Ross or CP pistons.

What about using a 4g64 block? Sounds like a torque-monster combonation to me.
