Stroker Build: Eagle Crank or 4G64 crank

I am in the process of spec'ing my stroker build and am considering the 4G64 or eagle 100mm stroke crank. What crank is better? I havent heard of any people having problems with the 4G64 crank so was wondering what advantages or disadvantages there are in using a Eagle crank.

Anyone on here had any problems with either crank on their stroker build ???

Not sure if it makes a difference but I will be using Manley I beam rods and Wiseco pistons.

most people are sticking with the stock crank because its strong. I am stroking my motor as we speak and I am keeping my stock crank. Good luck with your build and nice choice in part there.

If I was building a forged 2.0 I would certainly retain the stock crank as even very high HP 2.0l Evos are running stock crank without problems. But seeing im doing a 2.3 stroker I am thinking of using the 4G64 crank - im not sure whether the 2.0 evo crank and the 4G64 crank are comparable strength wise, hence Im contemplating the Eagle 2.3 stroker crank.

Sorry not sure I fully understand your question...you cannot use the stock crank to build a 2.3 stroker. Generally the extra capacity is created by altering the stroke, hence the use of a 4G64 crank or other suitable alternative.

The stock Evo 4G63 crank is amazingly strong - it is not bad at all but cant be used for my 2.3 stroker build.

I have three friends who are using EAGLE cranks...with no problems. One is still 2.0L (he spun bearings, so he bought the Eagle crank) The other two are stroked motors, one of them is making 550 whp with a GT35r no problems, and been running this crank with eagle rods and wiseco pistons for a year now!!

Take this for what it's worth, but I have heard that Eagle cranks need quite a bit of balancing. This is coming from shops that have experience with them. Not my friend said he knows a guy who heard once...

IMO I would look into K1 Technologies if you want to use an aftermarket crank. They're a little more expensive, but very nice quality.

Factory 4G64 cranks will break at 450+whp...ask any DSMer. Eagle is money well spent.

I Haven't "heard" from any shops that the EAGLE cranks need alot of balacing But it can't hurt to call a few shops to satisfy your curiousity.

I'm just tellin you from 1st hand experience, as my best friend, has this crank (as I said before in his stroker motor making 550hp) and he rev's to 7500 rpm daily for nearly a year now with no problems "to date"

I have just spent a couple of weeks researching this. My results as follows...

Factory 100mm 4G64 2.4L - Cast crank that has not been nitrided.

Eagle 100mm 2.4L - Forged Crank that has been nitrided.

If you want relaiability over the long term then go with the eagle. A forged peice is a lot tougher than a cast crank plus the Eagle is already nitrided. I have one of each and I am going with the Eagle. Some shops will tel you otherwise but for my peice of mind I want the most rugged out there. I regards to balancing, you should definatley spend the money to balance the rotating assembly particularly on a stroker motor. The extra throw on the crank will create extra harmonic vibrations.

Let's talk about this. First of all, tell me what about it you feel makes it look like a cast piece.

i guess the more appropriate question would be to ask what your personal opinion is on this debate. I want the best info possible and I see that you are very active within the community, so... what would you pick if you had to?
