Best Short Shifter

Well i was looking at some short shifters but not really sure which one to get . Any ideas on which one is the best short shifter? Im leaning more towards the lancershop one. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I have the B&M adjustable shifter and I like it a lot. It's a bit more pricey but it's a great piece. Fairly easy to install too.

I have the Kartboy one and I love it. Very solid piece! I like the B&M one as well....though Kartboy's local and their price was easier to deal with.

We have run the Kartboy shifter in our Shop EVO. It is one of the best if not the best shifter for these cars in my opinon. They offer two sets of different bushings that when all used turns your shifter into the ultimate shifting tool. They offer shifter base bushings(takes the slop from between the shifter bas and the trans tunnel of the car) and shfiter linkage bushings(takes slop out of shifter linkage). It requires no modification for install(beisdes pivot cup that is required by every shifter). And all for a very good price. (approx 195 for shifter and all bushings) Let me know if you have any questions on this. We are happy to help.

I say lancer shop is the best bang for the buck its a good quality short throw shift comes with 8 bushings (top and bottom) and with a counter weighted shift knob for 109 bucks most of the others mentioned your ganna pay 150+ for just the short shift not counting bushings or a knob to fit it.

If you think about it they are all made with basically the same kind of metal and your not going to be able to break or tear apart a solid metal bar so I don't think brand matters as much as some may think on short throw shifters.

The Lancershop kit is unquestionably the best value. You get *everything*, and you pay less. It's a no brainer.

True.

The real test of a prduct like this is not the materials since it isn't put through stress like say a connecting rod would. But in the design and quality of the build.

When choosing a short shifter the best thing to do is to get in as many cars as you can. Feel how it shifts(even if you can't drive the car just run it through the gears) Nothing anyone(including myself) is going to tell with be the same as actually feeling it. This is not always posible but it is the best way to choose a shifter.

I agree with Ben. It would be ideal to test a bunch of shifters first before choosing one...but since that's not likelly to happen I can atleast tell you my first impressions of the B&M shifter. At first it felt very stiff when in neutral. It would not give at all. It felt very short when I was going through the gears. It almost felt like it did not go into the gear.First and fifth gear required a bit more power to shift into.. After a few minutes of shifting I got used to it and it "loosened" up a bit. Now if you go into a "regular" Evo the shifter feels like it's too loose.

I have only used the Lancershop short shifter and I must say that for the price it dramatically improves shifter feel/throw

I only have experience with the B&M non adjustable. I have been running it for about a year and a half now and recommend it. Last winter I put the Lancershop metal shifter base bushings in and wow, those things rock, then around early September I added a set of the Kartboy shifter linkage poly bushings and wow again. A little OT but one thing that would be very cool is if we could somehow figure a way to mimic the teftlon coated shifting cables of the MR, I bet that would be awesome...

If you're considering the non-adjustable B&M, then the Lancershop unit is your shifter. The Lancershop shifter comes with (8) brass shifter base bushings, (2) brass linkage bushings, and costs less. It's a no-brainer.

Now, if you're considering the adjustable B&M, it costs more, and the extra adjustment removes so much leverage that it becomes a P.I.T.A. to shift.

I have the LS shifter, Mitsubishi spun aluminum shift ball w/pattern, and a carbon fiber boot. I can assure you it looks like a factory race setup, and it shifts like a rifle bolt.
