Update my friend improved his times at the track with only Work TB be added to his VISHNU stage 0+ at the last SOCALEVO/EOC track day

Who cares about WHP since at the track the thorrtle response is important.

The TB is made that benefits cars that track and in SOCAL there are several track days a year that socalevo/ EOC guys host. One thing I learned when I came out to socal is that most EVO people don't care about dragging instead they want to take it to the track. The power gains may be minimal but the throttle response will lead to quicker lap times.

This post got really long quickly but the point of the post was lost which is the car spools faster which is why Works TB rocks. Watch a Best Motoring Video and see that throttle response is important at the track.

Years ago, I heard a story at the shootout (I think Tym Switzer was talking about it) about Dave Buschur putting larger and larger intercoolers on his RWD DSM. It kept on making more and more power on the dyno with the larger intercoolers. But the performance at the track was identical to the old setup. Evidently, the larger intercooler was beneficial on the dyno because you couldn't get the airflow through the intercooler on the dyno that you could when you were doing 140mph at the track. Go figure.

I believe forester racing will make you a throttlebody from a ford and thier intake manifold work.

You lose idle control. And every Ford TB I have seen, Accufab and BBK, have issues with snapping their shafts under high boost. Not fun.

The 05 uses one less component (a mechanical valve) vs. the 03-04 models.

A user on this thread claimed a 8whp difference on a dyno. I don't know if 8whp could be factors other than just the throttle body.

It sounds like Shiv has some contacts that are trying to firm up the dyno questions in order to verify these add on less than 3% horsepower gains.

My question is ... what percentage does the dyno whp fluxuate between runs on a car? At least for now with our current dyno setups, can we upper bound, the horsepower gains that we should see for any paticular addons?

Also ... another idea ... I've seen some motor driven throttle body usage as of late. Namely on the Subie STi, and some BMW V8 motors. The BMW motors were built from Falconer Racing, and it was interesting to ask Falconer why they would put in an electronic motor there. They claimed they can tune the throttle response of the motor so well, they are customizing the throttle response best for both the motor, and for even a paticular driver.

Thanks,

jcnel.
