3" Exhausts W/Silencers?

... any besides Helix?

Is there any definitive info of power with vs. without silencers?

I'm looking to do 02 housing, 3" turbo-back w/HF cat. It HAS to be tolerable with the silencer.

All I ever hear is how loud the 3" is from those w/cat-delete and little about those w/HF cats. Therefore I'm looking at those w/silencers.

How much of a pain is it to install/remove the silencer?

Pictures with and without silencers would be a big plus as well.

Thanks all!

are you refering to resonators or the actual silencer you insert into the muffler?

Well, the silencers, actually. That way it's removable for drag/autocross days...

all silencers are universal and all do the same thing effectively, you can buy one off of ebay. It's held on by a long screw and nut so it's pretty easy to put on and but removing may be tough since you have to tighten the shat out of it to make it stay on in the first place. I lost mine out in the street because the nut was loose. Man can you feel the low end torque...

Geddy Ti catback with rolled lip has a silencer, haven't ever put mine in however. No resonators though, so with silencer it is 94dB, and 101 dB without. Don't think they make a DP or HFC or test pipe though if you are looking for a full TB.

Whatup,

I have a Helix on the way to complement my Helix DP and RT HF Cat. I got it partly because of the avail silencer, but I'm hoping I don't need to run with it in...

I currently have stock intermediate pipe and Bushur AB muffler, which I believe is 2.5 ". With this setup, I actually got a ticket "Altered Exhaust" to complement a speeding ticket but I was able to beat that in court...

I guess you're avoiding Helix? Anyway, I can post up my impressions when it gets here, probably next week.

Good luck,

No, not avoiding Helix at all - just looking for options.

I want what 3" exhaust can give me, want to keep SOME cat, and want the sound to not drone nor drown out any conversation. I DO keep trying to keep the wife happy with that car from time to time. The jeep-like ride has her avoiding it... *Laugh*

Here is a link to sound clips of various exhaust combinations. Also, I believe it has dB levels, but these can vary by test methodology/atmospheric conditions, etc.
