I have found the AVCR too complex for its own good...its instruction book alone is a novel That being said when properly set up they work very well...I just have never had a car or need for all its features.

My two favorites have consistently been the HKS EVC5 and Blitz SBCID3, with the nod going to the HKS for its simpler setup and programming

...hint hint on where to buy any of these if you need one

Okay, maybe we should say "What is the best EBC that you can still buy new with a warranty"?

Which HKS are you talking about, is it a current model?

I am getting a 3-4psi boost spike with my Joe P MBC and I want to change to an EBC to get rid of it. I don't think the Joe P is any worse than all the other MBCs, but the turbo spools so fast that you need a BC that can react to what is about to happen and start to open the WG.

Hks Evc V --

Two settings for boost control ( I run one at 19.5 psi for street, one at 22psi for race gas)

Scramble boost for fun.

Fully digital display with peak monitering and peak warning.

Pretty easy (but long) install

Durable componants (meaning they will last in the engine bay)

HKS - You get what you pay for.

I have a Turbosmart e-Boost on the way. From the technical info I have read on it and all the reviews, I expect it to be an excellent performer! I will report back after it is installed and tuned
No more boost spike like I get with my MBC....I hope!

I have a Profec B and it's great! Used it on my Talon for a number of years and now it's in my Evo. Holds boost solid until redline.

agreed, I had the Profec B on my sr20det and it did a good and consistant job of controlling the boost. I liked how simple this unit was.

on my old Poopra I had the HKS EVC Pro, which by the way had an insane amount of features, which also worked flawlessly. However, this unit was very complicated to set up so I had to have an HKS pro shop do it.

So basically the problems people are having with the Profec B are just not setting it up quite right, that's what it sounds like? I've been looking at getting an EBC for a little bit now (my stock boost solenoid is peaking it at ~16psi).

Where exactly are you guys mounting these MBC's? I had mine mounted where the stock one was and the boost was all wavy and weird, so I made a little bracket and mounted it right next to the turbo and now the boost will hold at 19 or 20psi up until about 5800RPM then it goes up to 23 and holds all the way to 7500RPM! The instructions state to mount the MBC as close to the turbo as possible which it is now, but I'm lost here on this one with the boost not holding!
