Buschur Racing dyno thread.....new developments.

Here are some pictures of the car as it sits right now. A few of you have asked to see what we are doing and what it all looks like. Pretty damn nice if I do say so myself

As you can see there is a new product on the car I just finished this morning. The cold air intake kit.
Before you ask here are some specifics on the kit:
Can only be used with the AEM EMS or something else that eliminates the MAS.
IF you already have our MAS pipe with 2 bends in it (original style or what we use with the EMS and no MAS) then turning that kit into the cold air kit is $75. It does require a standard 3" inlet filter, if you already have eliminated the MAS you probably already have this type of filter. The filters are $40 if you don't.
IF you don't have our 2 bend MAS pipe already then the entire kit is $275, add $40 for a filter if you don't already have it.
Nice thing about this kit is IF you want to run the kit with the filter in the engine bay it is as simple as taking two clamps off and the mount for it. Your filter will then go on the end of the standard MAS pipe. Some guys are afraid to run a filter kit like this in heavy rain and such so I made it two pieces to make it so you can change it.
Enjoy guys, we do.

I think I see the cap too. Either that or I have been staring at this darn screen to long.
EDIT: I know you aren't driving this car and it is basically just for these tests, but why did you take off the strut bar? I'm guessing for more room to work with. May be a stupid question.

David has a real talent for making things neat and functional - a true master crasftman at work.
I wish he would take a close up - you guys would ot belive how clean, good looking and functional that engine bay is - notice the new amazing looking header heat shield

Did he remove the IC sprayer setup for the cold air intake or not? We can't tell from the pics but you were there.

The 20G is not completely off the list. Just waiting for an actual cast wheel to be produced.
My brother and I have been talking about this for the last few days and he keeps reminding me that the old DSM 20g was not a fast turbo until it gets up to 25 psi or so. I only tested the 20G at a flat 20 psi of boost, maybe I should have wicked it up more. Problem is running over 20 psi on pump gas gets tough.

Hi Dave,
My MR boosts to 24-25psi fairly easily with a few bolt-ons with pump gas (93 oct.)
Is this harmful in any way? Should I turn my EBC down?
Also I have 720cc inj.'s, and a Perrin fuel rail (with FPR) in my garage,
would it be ok to install these with my stock turbo?
My mods:
TBE, SAFC, EBC, 255 pump, drop in HKS filter, HKS twin power dl-ll
Dyno Jet = stock (251/258) now (321/299)

Maybe it would make more sense if I could translate "ture"?
Your typos crack me up

One thing I can tell you about David is you will not find a guy who is more into his evo anywhere. Basically it seems he does very little except dyno, tune and make parts for his evo. I think it has over 300 dyno pulls on it now. I find it amazing that he is still this much into a DSM after having worked on DSM's for 15 years straight.
Couple of things on this cold air kit. Will not work with the factory i/c sprayer bottle, so no alcohol. Also, I am going to have to do it over again for use with the HID lights as the RS does not have HID's and leaves more room. I'm not even sure if it will work with HID's. Pretty limited use piece, but for my car and the plans on this build it works out great.
The strut bar and front end are both off because it makes it easier to work on, this car has not seen the road since last October or so. 395 dyno pulls since then. Still has the stock head, head gasket, head bolts and completely stock bottom end in it. Pretty happy about that.
DrMr.
The boost levels you are hitting are not safe in my opinion. Not if the car is holding that boost for any length of time. A short spike to 23-24 is acceptable if you have had the car monitored to see if it is detonating. Something else, and please don't get offended. I have spent a lot of time on this dyno thread doing testing and such. My hopes are that guys appreciate the work I am doing and not only follow the upgrade path that I am proving but also follow it using our parts. It should be pretty easy to see that the 720's aren't needed but neither is the rail.

To contrast for Dave, 550cc injectors used to be aftermarket upgrades for DSM's for use with 16g's, 18g's, etc. So having 560cc's stock on the Evo means the kind Mitsu engineers gave us this upgrade in stock form which delays the necessity for larger injectors until much further in the upgrade process. So as Dave says, 720's are overkill at your stage and way premature. Listen to the man.
The turbo testing on the BR440/500/580 were all done last year. What do you want to know?
