Better catalytic converters

There are all these talks about how some hiflo cats won't pass inspection or may throw a CEL. Well I stumbled upon a couple of sites that sell better cats. Someone on these boards mentioned that RRE sells Flowmaster cats. I checked them out and they say they are OBD2 legal. I did a search on these on Google and came across Magnaflow cats. Someone did review on them, he put it on his Z28 and stated he passed California emissions easily, not to mention his exhaust is cleaner than stock. More power too. I also came across a Xtremeconverters or something and they have universal replacement catalytic converters. They are OBD2 legal and EPA certified and have a lifetime warranty. They aren't legal in California. For the Californians, there is one that is CARB certified, in addition to EPA and OBD2. They also have a 5 year, 50,000 mile warranty. The downside is that there are no flanges on these, They have to be welded on yourself.
I would like to hear some of the big companies out there say that the cats they sell are OBD2 legal, CARB and EPA certified. I hear Works is trying to get a CARB exempt on their cat, but why get it exempt when it means it won't pass?
I may get one of these and have 3" in and out. I may actually have my full 3" after all!

WORKS is looking at CARB Certification for our High Flow Cat, but it's not a quick and easy process.

As a resident of the Peoples Republic Of California I would like to know also. Californis goes out of their way to make it difficult for these companys to certify anything

I understand. Getting it through California's strict standards is difficult. Hey if it passes California it should definitely be okay for NJ. The Works cat looks nice by the way.

We sell high flow catalytic converters made by Car Sound. Car Sound is the parent company of Magnaflow Exhausts so essentially a Car Sound cat is Magnaflow cat. We do sell them flanged to bolt up to a EVO8, $160. They are CARB and OBD2 compliant. However it is not technically legal to replace a functioning cat for guys that like to live by the letter of the law. But then again just about _none_ of all the mods you all do are legal anyways...

We use the large body cats, I see a lot of "high flow cats" come through the shop that actually have a smaller cross section than the stock cat. Not cool.

I know that. And I know Ultimate racing, Helix, AMS, and others make cats. But can they say they are OBD2 legal, EPA and CARB certified? My first sentence in my post shows I am aware of other cats.

I failed to mention that the cats at Xtreme converters are LEV compliant. Evos are LEV.
