Question Managing Upgraded Fuel System on 4G63

Hey, I just recently bought a 91 Galant VR4 with a completely rebuilt engine/tranny/suspension.
The car came with a 16G turbo upgrade, and I want to utilize the 19psi its capable of without destroying my engine.
I am now wanting to upgrade the injectors(among other things) and am wanting to know if I need to buy a piggyback fuel comp, such as the SAFC, or if the stock ecu be reflashed? What other routes, other than buying an AEM or something of that calibre, should I be looking at?

Congrats on the new car...I owned one for a number of years (now it's my brothers).

Fuel wise its easy on the GVR4 and there are a few options. You can do 550s and a 2G DSM MAF.use an SAFC2 to dial in the fuel trims. Might not let you quite run 19 psi on the 16G but you'll be close. Another option is a 2G MAF and 660's, again with a SAFC2 to dial it out...this would be a better (IMHO) way to go. Third way is finding a used VPC, thereby ditching the MAF altogether, and fitting 550's or 660's (there are preprogrammed VPC ROM's for either injectors. I run this setup with 660's on my old car (with an 18G) and its pretty damn quick (solid low-mod 12's).

Last route would be to ditch the factory ecu altogether, and get the AEM ecu.

What intercooler/piping is on the car?

If you need pointers, or help on deciding what you need and what you don't, just ask...I've been there and done that with that car

re: Z1

Hey man, thanks for lending your advice, much appreciated. It's cool you had a galant too, not many out there. Im not sure where you live, but i'm in canada and there are only three, including mine! What did you have done to yours??
As far as fuel injection is concerned, I'll probably end up ordering the RC engineering 550ccs. Should I be looking at saturated, or peak type? I'm also ordering the SAFC along with those. So do I also need to upgrade my ECU, or do anything to it when that's in there??
What's your opinion on mechanical boost controllers? I've heard good and bad things, but I dont have the money for the SAFC and a digital boost controller right now, but a mechanical one might be doable.
The intercooler and piping are stock unfortunately, something that will be upgraded as soon as i can afford it. Until that's in there, I dont think i'd be trying for 19, probably just run it at 14, 15. It luckily came with an upgraded 2 3/4 straight exhaust with a nice super-free flow muffler.
Other than that, I'm ordering a Turboxs bov, and a walbro 255 pump.

But yeah, definitely appreciate any words of wisdom, from you or anyone else reading this.

cheers
