Just switched from test pipe to highflow...

I just switched out from a helix test pipe to a UR 3" high flow cat. I have a helix exhaust and the thing was loud!!!! After putting in the high flow things are not as loud
Now I have read around that a high flow cat does not rob that much power...around 5whp. I know that this is not even noticeable on the but dyno. But for some reason I can tell a significant difference in power loss. Kinda feels like 15-20 whp on my but dyno. So has anybody out there experienced this or lost alot of power on the dyno by switching to a cat?

Im thinking about running catless again since I feel a substantial loss in power especially up top.

My guess is that it's in your head. Since it's quieter now, you probably just "think" it's got less power. I don't think going from a test-pipe to high-flow cat would be noticable.

lol, i know! I guess it'd all depend on what kind of high-flow cat it is. I know the one i have....there's not much to it.

To be a catalytic converter it has to convert something using a catalyst. A test pipe, resonated or not cannot be called a catalytic converter. There is only one kind of catalytic converter. If it is a catalytic converter, high flow or not, it will not make the power of a test pipe under any circumstance.

I dyno tested a test pipe vs. a high flow cat. 15 hp difference! It is not in your head.

Yes this is verified. We saw about 15 HP but high 20's for torque!

No it was hotter and more humid on the catless run. Not bad though.
