?s about APS CAI and Reflash

Well I got my car dynoed with my helix/megan racing turboback (got 265 whp and 266 lb/ft of torque ), and so now I'm addicted. My next step , I think, is a reflash, but I'm also looking into other mods that I should do along with the reflash so I don't have to keep on reflashing. I'm looking at doing boost controller (mbc or ebc, havent 100% decided), fuel pump, and intake. The shop that dynoed my car recommended that I get the APS CAI. I am wondering where I might possibly find a deal on this intake (with the water reservior). The shop hasnt given me a price on the intake, so I want to see if I can get a comparison that they may be able to beat.

Also if there are any other key mods to do with the reflash that I am forgetting, please fill in my blanks. Thanks all, for any info and/or advice you can provide.

Jon

I have this intake and love it. I had the hks rs and im glad I switched.Vivid racing has the intake for 199. Call Lancershop and talk to Justin Hamel, He can match and In most cases beat any price. I also have the Perrin TBE installed with it. No probs whatsoever. I could tell a big diff. when I put it on.

I never understood the advantages of a cold-air intake on a turbocharged car, let alone one that boosts 19 lbs out of the box. See, the turbo gets extremely HOT. So whenever that cool, dense air passes into the turbo and gets compressed, its going to be heated up again. That's what your intercooler is for. I say if you want colder intake temps, invest in a better front mount intercooler, like Buschur Racing's for example.

If i were in your shoes, I would be get the Buschur Racing Intake for like $80. You can get the upgraded MAS pipe if you like, but I didn't think it was really necessary until later. Also, you should get a Hallman Pro manual boost controller. It's around $90 shipped. DO NOT settle for anything less than a Hallman. I learned that the hard way. A bunch of great tuners use this exact mbc on their 9 and 10 second monstor EVO's. You should be able to get an easy 20whp with the boost controller. Don't forget the boost guage if you dont already have one. After this I reccommend a Dynoflash/TT/Vishnu/Buschur/WORKS ECU flash. I personally like Turbo-Trix and Dynoflash. Also pick up a Walbro Fuel Pump for extra measure. This setup should easily put you at 300whp. Good luck!

Thanks alot. I was wondering about the coil air intake issue that you stated. The majority of intakes I see on evos are the usual cone filter. What your saying does make sense. Anyone have some dyno sheets w/ a CAI and a regular intake kit? It would save me a good amount if I just put on a regular intake kit. (APS is mad expensive for an intake)

Hallman is no doubt the way I would go for a manual boost controller. I've seen now that they make in-cockpit adjusters for the hallman mbc, so theres not much point to have an ebc.
I think I'm gonna start another thread regarding the CAI vs regular intake kit.

Well im just telling you from my experience. I've had both the APS, Turbo xs and HKS RS, and the APS by far is the one I'd recommend. My car wouldnt break loose the tires w/ either other intake, but will with the APS, that should indicate HP increase right? Maybe my car just "THINKS" it got more HP, but it makes my evo happy so Im sticking with it. You can doubt any way you guys like, this is just from my experiences. But I also got a deal on mine 200 for both intake and reservoir.
