Becuase the 05's have the front diff. I can't get the APS intake. What is the next best option for us?

I've tried several different intakes over the past year or so with my 03.. Although the car has some differences, I would strongly recommend AGAINST changing your intake unless your planning on also tuning the car with a reflash or other method..

You will get a bad lean spot with most of these where you really don't want it.. and you will lose a little 'low end oomf' without tuning..

The best "First mod" I've seen, and generally recommend people stick to is the K&N or HKS Foam drop-in filter.. You will definitely have alot more work done to the car before you outflow the stock intake/airbox.. at that point, then consider your options.

Unless you're going to do some tuning, stay stock and get a drop in.

Not sure, probably 270-280 or so, definitely you'll need some form of boost control (you don't mention it)

From a performance standpoint, the biggest gains are going to be had from a boost controller and reflash.. your Exhaust and intake mods will help, its entirely possible oyu can hit 300whp, but its unlikely you'll get too much over.. IT really depends on your car and what it would have baselined at before any mods were done (if it was a stronger runner or weaker car from the factory)

All Dyno's read different, but you really need to know your before and after tunes, since the gains you make from the tune will be a bigger gauge of your improvement.

... I'd suggest a good MBC (e.g., Halman Pro) and a reflash -- this combo produced 290whp on a Dynojet with a Dynoflash tuned reflash of an '05. I think Al is running a special that might make a MBC & reflash cheaper than some of the more expensive intakes. As others said, you'll certainly see more power from this combo than from an intake.

Alot of people have had good success with intakes. The main time your going to run into a problem is when you change the piping in-between the MAF and the turbo. The stock piece seems to be a good "buffer" for the air flow which is what normally causes the car to stall. I you get a intake such as the TurboXS intake you should not run into these problems. The TurboXS intake uses the stock pipe and just mounts a K&N cone filter onto the MAF. It seems to be the best of both worlds.

Having an open element intake system will increase the sound of a recirculated Blow off valve. So if you did go with one it would help your everyday drivability(compared to a VTA) while feeding the ricer inside all of us.

Ben
