I have to somewhat agree.. On a street driven Evo, the goal is to increase torque and maintaining torque from a lower RPM through a higher point.. Ultimately that results in much higher horsepower, but the focus should be on torque and not horsepower numbers.

And just why would the MAF be "unpredictable and troublesome"?

AMSGT35R turbo kit would be better. Get it, the EMS, cams, exhaust... You can have about 450whp.

Everyone says it isn't worth it to go for that number on the stock turbo but I dont think they are realizing you arent wasting any money doing it. If you decide to get a bigger turbo then you will utilize that turbo much more as well. They are good parts that will work with a larger turbo as well. It is always a good idea to over build everything.. That way you dont throw stuff out later if you decide to go faster. Thats my .02

ps: I am going for 400whp on stock turbo as well. I will probably upgrade it later but it is a winter project to see if I can hit it. Im not going to buy any parts that will be a waste at a later date... they will just help the next turbo get even more power.

I have right now intercooler piping, 3" turbo-back, 272/272, AFC (Will get rid of this later... just had it left over), Fuel Pump, and waiting to be installed is Buschur's Race IC and Magnus Intake Manifold and 660cc injectors. I figure with an EMS I should be close with what I already got.

then its on to the fmic.
i shoudl be able to crack the 400whp mark on stock turbo, stock exhaust mani, stock intake mani and stock ecu.
why you ask on the stock turbo? because people will look under the hood and think nothing of it, ohh a front mount, stock turbo, oh and intake. it will leave a LOT of people thinking when you burn them hardcore
