Anyone used one of these FMIC's?

There are a few intercoolers on ebay if you type in "evo intercooler"

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33742

The dimensions of the core are very close to the same as other competing IC's such as TurboXS, which fit the stock IC piping. These look great, tested to 80psi strong, and seem nice for the price.

Thoughts?

you do get what you pay for yes, but if its the same dimensions and stuff and looks like excellent quality, why not?

Alot of companys dont even make their own in house FMIC's. And those who do usually just slap their endtanks on a standardized core.

It is not the same dimensions. The Turbo XS is 3.5" thick. Also you don't know the quality. I have seen this core personally as well and for the money it is good. You cannot compare it to a good bar and plate 3.5" core though. I have seen them as cheap as $250 that same one.

yeah i know dimensions are not dead on , but close enough, and end tank design looks the same. it is also bar and plate.

But here is some spec on some FMICs...
Perrin 25x11.7x3 $850
XS 24x12x3.5 $800
Greddy 24x10x2.65 $800
Buschur 24x10.5x3.5 $750
AMS 20x12.4x3.65 $700

i am sure i will be able to fit it. i think it might have a little more turbo lag. but i'm sure it will flow better than the stock ic and with hard pipe you might not fell the lag. we will see. i plan on keeping a budget of $450. well below anybody price...

It fit with a few little modifications. You don’t have to cut the crash beam just the splash guard. Also replace your radiator fan with a slim one (RRE sells them) and whip up some brackets. That’s it, FMIC upgrade done for $450. The 24X12X3 core wouldn’t require replacing the radiator fan. Here are some pics https://www.evolutionm.net/registry/...e.php?vid=2536

Yes, this is an awesome core!!! I have seen it on a couple of evos and it looks great!!! Has almost no PSI drop from the stock core. And it is custom engineered to fit perfect and be a direct replacement for the stock unit. Nisei Engineering makes good stuff. PLUS Myevostore.com has the best customer service ever! DO IT!

I have one but have not yet installed it (I will in ~2 weeks). Construction-wise, it looks like a million bucks. This unit appears to deliver the greatest effective surface area for cooling among EVO ICs, which is what sold me.

Quite frankly, I don't expect to observe any real gains (dyno or otherwise) from any upgraded IC at my present power level (350-400whp), but I'm planning on going to a larger turbo.
