Has anyone gutted their cat? I've been thinking about this just for the mean time until i get a test pipe. Are there any side effects to doing this? Will it be bad for the car? Also will there be a noticable gain in HP (if any)? Any info is welcomed thanks.

Been wondering about this myself. Thinking about summer auto-x. Seems like a little less risk of getting caught without one when driving on the street in between those summer races. I wouldn't go all year with it though, that's bad karma.
You would think it's about the same as a test pipe.

because stock cats are pretty expensive-I probably would run a cat delete rather than gutting out a stock cat.

Yea thats why ive been thinking twice about doing it. It would suck to have to pay $400-500 on a stock cat when I can get a aftermarket one for about $100, but then again why would I need a stock cat?

Dont kill your cat! I picked up the Megan Racing test pipe off ebay for 30 bucks. Yeah, you can flak it becuase its a cheap Ebay product, but its just a pipe. I couldn't make my own for under 50, not including my time. Fits ok, does its job.
