exedy carbon double or triple?

I have an 03 Evo Viii with 612miles on her. It is tuned by Tym Switzer of Switzer Performance innovations. Tyms expectations are 450 hp with 104 turbo blue pump gas and 600 with vp120 race gas after tunning of course. My qustion is what clutch should I run a exedy twin carbon or anexedy triple? Any input would greatly be appreciated.

I personally would err to the side of overkill and get the Triple. I believe AMS is making similar power and just upgraded to the Triple Carbon after exceeding the limits of the Twin Carbon.

Sounds like you have a pretty bad *** setup... I better see you down on Tele and Joy this summer.

Have you considered the RPS twin?

No Chris I have not. Being new to the evo scene I don't have much experience. I have owned SVT Cobra since 96, but after getting pulled by 2 bus legnths I woke up and realized the potential with the evo. What are the advantages of the rps twin vs. the exedy trip.? Thanks forthe info.

The RPS is a true carbon carbon design vs the exedy carbon/metal/carbon design. The RPS is rebuildable for 400$ has a 6 month racing warranty. Marco of magnus runs the twin carbon in his 9 second talon. From the guys I've talked to it has a real smooth engagement like stock and works great for racing or driving. The triple exedy has expensive discs in it. They run like 200 a disc usually. So if your looking for somthing to change once go with the RPS.

Can someone list the advantages of a rpstwin vs. exedy's trip. Longevity, drivability, and performance. I was researching the ams evos and some other guy with a similiar setup who ran in the wrx vs. evo shoot out and in the article this guy with a silver evo and blue flames with skulls on his car said the new exedy trip. is the best clutch on earth for drag or street.

I'll trust logic performance. They gave some ridiculous deal that can't be beat by most shops around before.

I just talked with my tuner and he knows Magnus. He raced through the ranks with him. He said that the rps twin carbon on carbon is noisy and chattery, it does give great life and hold but I guess I need something alittle more streetable than that. He also said that he also blows those clutches up like little cookies after a few rounds of drag.

Yes in a DSM this is true. In the evo it is a totally different clutch than DSM.

So in the evo it is more livable and less noisey? If so then that is what I will install.

If you think twin carbon is noisy, you haven't heard the triple carbon yet.

twin carbon isn't that bad, when installed correctly.
