can a reflash control boost or do you need a boost controller?

A reflash will control boost the same way the factory ECU does. The part about them not being able to detect them until 05 is BS. Them can run a sum check on an ECU from any year and tell if it has been altered.

Dynoflash - you need a controller to hold a steady level of boost to redline.

Vishnu XFlash - you can use a controller or use the supplied pill to put inline with the boost solenoid to raise the boost. The benefit of using the pill over the boost controller is that the boost will still have the spike -> taper charecteristics of the stock ECU boost curve but at a raised boost level. This is a trademark of Vishnu tuning, more boost in the midrange, less up top.

Works P2 Flash - No controller or pill needed, the ECU can control boost.

An ECU flash is the best money spent for the average owner... you get to remove boost cut and increase the rev limiter which can't be done with the SAFCs. Also, torque is increased with timing adjustment. Not to mention the fact that you can keep the SAFC and do additional fuel tuning if/when you add more mods. The worst "mail in" flash from Turbo Trix, Dynoflash, or Works is going to be more enjoyable to drive than the best custom SAFC tune money can buy.

So although I'm getting a custom flash, I should still keep my SAFCII?

if you plan to mod your car like crazy, then you'll be better off with a piggyback or a standalone unit. you will save money by going that way.

I made 50 more AWHP safely with TurboTrix than I did with Dynoflash. If you want to know more you can do a search.

Saftey is relative.

Also - you did not make 50 more whp with the same mods - you changed your mods on the car. Also - if i remember the details correctly you were running different fuel - (pump gas vs. race gas and a higher boost level - while "pulling timing what ever that means [that = knock last time I checked]).

Finally - if anyone wants a rational comparision between the Turbo tricks flash and the dyno flash you can go into the Dyno Flash vendor section and review some of the first so called "case study" tunes.

I think that any flash tuner can make comparable whp numbers. All the flash tunes make good results. I am not trying to knock any ther products, I just find it slightly annoying to keep hearing Mr. Evotexas's misleading claims that he made "50 whp gains." The truth is that his assertion is a misleading claim and there is more to the story than simple numbers.

Dynoflash is the way to go. When you decide to make major upgrades you can even do a custom tune which I know for a fact makes ridicilous amounts of power. Plus Al takes care of everyone's car as if it was his own...
