Our stock upper intercooler pipes are already 60mm or 2 3/8". That's why you see little to no gain when upgrading. The stock rubber hose that goes into the throttle body is actually larger than 2.5" as it transitions from 2 3/8" to ~2 5/8" at the throttle body.

There is no comparison between DSM and EVO stock IC pipes. The EVO's stock parts are so much better.

not so .. Buschurs deluxe kit is about 20 inchs shorter.. less time to heat up... and its a straight shot to the tb so less air flow flucuations

Really that noticable, get a lower ic pipe, upper only if you had a problem blowing it off like me.
You are on crack. Period. If you got that much whp from just changing the lower piping, every manufacturer would have that for sale. As it is, it's not even a common upgrade.

I sure wish Buschur would chime in.

Sorry did a before and after Dyno, big gains for all . IT SHOULD be a common upgrade, reminds me of when I had my 2G DSM and simply replaceing teh upper IC pipe which was a flat plastic tray, yes it becomes as flat as a tray, and a plastic boc that leaked after 12PSI.

Anyway, teh Lower IC pipe is a HORRIBLE restiriction, question, DID YOU REPLACE YOURS? i did.

The UPPER may ADD SOME WHP, but less then 3, only there for added throttles response and really doesn't add power on the STOCK turbo. Get a lower IC pipe

quality and fitment of stock ic pipe is best . most aftermarket ic pipes are garbage ,,(no holders, end of pipe not propery machined)

Ok laugh, your wrong, and this has been tested and proven, I mean I dont understand why you are so upset? Lower IC pipe adds big power, certainly can fell the difference, the upper pipe on teh STock unit is nice, an upgraded is good as it doesn't expand but doesn't add any noticable gains, sorry man.

umiami is right.there hasn't been a really proven gain with any upper ic pipe out yet.the lower has been kinda proven to give small gains.sad but true y'all.

Taken from Dave Buschur:

"Bottom line is with the boost turned down a little to try and actually get a number I was still able to get an additional 12 whp from the MAS pipe and the upper i/c pipe. This would not take into any gains from the BOV upgrade as it was on before."

"No intention of making a new lower i/c pipe for the car from the turbo to the intercooler. Quite honestly anyone making one is just doing it for profit. For what the lower pipe does the stock design isn't going to be improved on much. It is already large enough and made of aluminum. It can't really be shortened with the way the turbo is and the FMIC from the factory. If you want to do a worthwhile improvement and can that long stock pipe go with our Deluxe FMIC kit, it comes with a very short lower pipe."
