One last question Dave, sorry. Would an adition of a FMIC need me to have a complete retune? or not?

I have been open and honest about the results I got on the dyno on every part we have built and tested.

We tested the stock intercooler, no intercooler, no intercooler with alky, our standard FMIC and our Deluxe, all the results are in our dyno thread.

There are a lot of cars that see NO airflow to the intercooler, both of our drag cars are examples of that. The front fascia's are completely closed off for aerodynamics.

You say seeing 20+ EVO's on the dyno and comparing them to yours you see no gains. That's isn't a test, it isn't even a good comparison. You have to use the same car on the same day and dyno the car back to back with each intercooler. This is how we did our testing and how the other shop did their's.

I am still confused why I make more WHP the FMIC kitted cars, pull faster times, and have a better top end. I am also confused as to why some people state that they see no gains expect for more lag on larger kits. Mostly I am REALLY CONFUSED how you can just disregard my dyno observations and state that yours are fine. I don’t get that I am sorry Dave, they were on the same day, same dyno, same mods, except a larger FMIC. Hell sometimes they have way more them me, mods like.

AEM EMS (yes properly tuned)
Your FMIC KIT
720 Denso Injectors
Fuel rail
Less whp or exactly the same, I see no favor one way or the other.

You can't compare YOUR car to someone else's car and call that a test! You have to test YOUR car. All EVOs perform differently. All EVOs respond to mods differently. That is what Dave is trying to tell you. For all we know, your car could have the stock LIC pipe on and still outperform those other cars! Then what would be your argument?

I am only disregarding comparing different cars on the same dyno, not disregarding what you saw. I believe completely what you are telling me. What I am saying is you have to take the same car on the same day make 2-3 pulls on the stock FMIC, pull it off and then dyno with a good aftermarket intercooler 2-3 pulls.

Your car is tuned well and has a good combination of parts on it, that is why your car makes more power than other cars with more mods.

To say it makes more power, pulls faster times and has more top end is not completely true. I'll dyno and run against you with my RS. It has our FMIC kit on it. Made 393 whp and 390 ft lbs of torque on pump gas. Ran 11.7 at 116 mph on pump gas. (This is not a threatening challenge, just making a point)

Obviously you are passionate about your EVO and spend a great deal of time working with it, that is why you are killing guys with similar or even more mods. That deserves a huge congrats on your part!! You are doing a great job with your car.

Don't forget, many EVO's are weaker than others. Our '03 dyno'd 256 stock or '04 dyno'd 237 stock.

Ran 11.7 at 116 mph on

Honestly I trap at the same, yet I can't touch 11's so me thinks your a better at shifting them me so you'd beat my by half a second. I can't match my shifts and rpm's so there is no shock to the drivetrain either as well but I also hear this loses you some time. Then again I don't launch hard (a slight rollout and then I nail it as soon as the Evo is moving) and I do not bang gears as this is my only Evo . My dyno only stated 347WHP though but My trap is right there.

IDK, I still want your FMIC, that or the AMS as they are similarly priced and both do well.

So I take it we can all squash this myth about the LIC being a huge power gain?

Also, I think the FMIC from Buschur is only $750 whereas the AMS is like around $1500?

You ran 116 mph on straight pump gas with your EVO? What was the exact MPH?
