What does the Throw out bearing sound like when its damaged? My car is making like a howling sound when im downshifting and reducing speeds when i have the clutch half way in.

 

Try depressing the clutch up and down in neutral and the motor running. If it's the throw out bearing it will make noise. If it doesn't, I would check the fluids on the drivetrain(rear diff., tranny and center diff.

 

I also have a whinnig sound when accelerating in 4th and 5th gear and its the same sound as first to second and it goes away. i know its not the TC and the noise is coming from the rear. I have 13k on my car and have not changed the fluids, could that be the cause for the howling and the whining? Im going to change the fluids and it that doesnt help then i think my rear diff is messed up.

 

I would change the fluids first to see if that solves the noise problem

 

check all the fluids first...........i thought thats what the TC sounds like when its goin bad tho>?
