GT35R Turbo Kit

Hey guys I am very interested in this turbo upgrade, but just like anyone am worried about the spoolup and street driveability. Does anyone know out of all the shops out there, who has the fastest spooling kit. When do they hit full boost? I read today in a Magazine (Modified) that AMS's kit hits full boost at 3800 RPM is this acurate? Anyways thanks for the help. allen

DONT get a GT35R if you're worried about spool-up. Unless you have a stroker motor, the GT35R isn't the best street turbo. Go with a GT30R or a Buschur 20G Upgrade when it's available. Good luck.

I think RnR offers a 2.4L Stroker kit. That and a GT35R would be SICK!!!!

Depend on your EMS. Someone may tell you it'll spool at 3800 but they didn't tell you the whole story like, what are the supporting mods, EMS, gas, aggressive tuned...

I have one with S-AFCII it's spooling around 4600. It's not that bad of the streetable thing once you get used to drive it. Basically, like the stock EVO but you have to wait a little more to 4500 for the turbo to kick in. Remember, I'm only tuned with S-AFC II. Others mentioned with the stand-alone like AEM or Autronic will make it spool faster (timing advance).

Hope it helps. Let me know if you have any question and want to know from a consumer perspective.

I have a 2.3L stroker with everything done as far as tuning and head work, and my turbo spools about 3600-3700 rpms.. When it hits it is crazy.. The thread above mentioned a few other set-ups and yes they will be alot better for mildy tuned cars.. A GT35R is an excelent rubo if you have a $20,000 motor, if you dont then look at a bit smaller turbo set-up...

Something you may find interesting is that many honda guys consider this a realtively "small" turbo; you can increase power levels and spool the turbo much more quickly once you go to a better downpipe and exhaust setup than the current crop of traditional aftermarket designs.

The 35R is a bit laggy, but the AMS 35R is not as laggy as others. I have 272s with supporting mods and see peak boost at 4.2-4.5K rpm. I think with water injection, boosting that thing up to 24psi will get u a much more desire result.

With EMS and supporting mods you can get full boost by 4200rpm with a GT35R. I have seen this on both the RnR Kit and AMS kit first hand.
