The evo I bought was from bank who knew nothing abou it. It turns out that there are HKS cams in the car. What markings are on the cams to tell me what I have?

yeah, the cams will have the duration number engraved on the cams. It may be faint, but look closely.

I thought that it also should have th duration etiched in the cams or atleast a part number. The only thinkgs I could find were
intake AH003 206
Exhaust AH003 204
which to me isn't the duration.
I'll try and give Andrew a call.
Thanks

You have 272's.
264's are am001, am002. I just purchased some cams used and needed the same info.

Those somewhat resembel hks part numbers but are not the actual cam part numbers. 272 intake part number is 22002-AM003, 272 exhaust part number is 22002-AM004, 264 intake part number is 22002-AM001, 264 exhaust part number is 22002-AM002. I don't know what the part numbers on your cams are, but they do not match any hks part numbers for dsm's or evo.

The numbers on his cams are not 272 part numbers. Like you said the part #'s for 264's are am001 and am002 and the part #'s for 272's are am003 and am004. His numbers are ah003. Maybe there is some other reference marks on the cams.

Dude why are you you trying to confuse this guy?

He wants to know what cams are in his car. HKS 272 cams have "am003" (i) and "am004"(e) engraved on one of the lobes.

264 cams have Am001(i) and am002(e) engraved on them.

Exactly. He said his have ah003 on intake and exhaust. How does that match am003 (i) and am004 (e)? Unless of course you think he has 272 intake cams on both intake and exhaust and just missred the part number on them. Oh wait that wouldn't work because of the CAS (cam angle sensor sor the idiots), but I guess I should stop trying to help. All you are doing is giving him false info I was simply telling him that the numbers on his cams do not match any hks part numbers including dsm part numbers.

The numbers and letters on the cams were very light so they were hard to read so it might have be AM not AH.
but it was 003 & 004
all I know the car idles like crap most of the time and will die at idle. Which gets annoying.
Thanks for the info I'll see if I can make it out from the picture I took.

If they are installed correctly, 264s have very mild idle issues while the more radical 272s are noticeabley coarse compared to stock..but regardless...Why not get it down to an experienced tunner and have it set up properly? Driving it with only a vague idea about what has been done to it can be risky business indeed.

You probably have the 272's but your car should not be dying. I have the 272 and the idle is lopey but it does not stall.
