Heatsoak plays a big part in 4th geat dyno pulls since most of the time there isn't enough airflow for the intercooler.

Example: In my GTI I couldn't make a good 4th gear pull on the dyno with the stock SMIC. It would break up on the top and you could see the timing pull. So I had to dyno in 3rd gear all the time snce it was a shorter pull. I built my own Liquid/Air IC for the GTI where air flow isn't an issue and I made 15whp and 14ft/lb more on the same 3rd gear pulls. I then tried 4th gear pulls and I picked up almost 30whp and 20ft/lb over the broken up timing pull runs. Once I was able to make 3rd and 4th gear pulls the 4th gear pulls made more power than the 3rd gear pulls all the time.

Shouldn't third gear pulls be higher then fourth do to the gear ratios?

No, ideally you should dyno in the gear closest to 1:1. You didn't read the article that started this thread did you?

I did but in most cases I have seen third has put up higher numbers.
