not necessar for the hks 272's. however if you get a good deal on them, there's nothing like cheap insurance. you could prolly rev to 9k if you get a new valvetrain.

I have 272s and ferrea valves with crower springs/retainers

the guy who did the work said he did another evo with 272s and he did ferrea valves with ferrea springs/retainers and they wouldnt fit right, he had to do some extra cutting or something. that might not be the whole story I wasnt listening much I just wanted my car back.

good to know, may i ask how high you rev your motor with your setup?

also, is there any other companies that make valves and retainers?

well right now I rev to 0 because my motor is blown.

but I didnt rev any higher than stock with that stuff..

I was noob awhile ago and bought the springs/retainers/valves and paid all this money to get it installed/machined while they put the cams in

really dont gain much with that stuff on the stock turbo

I'm running Ferrea springs and retainers with my Piper Rally cams. Mark at Quantum Racing got ahold of them for me. They seem to be good, but I haven't had time to put that many miles on them yet. Roughly 2K miles and a couple track days. Currently my RPM cap is set at 7800 with my engine management.

My car is currently apart while having the head ported, but I should be able provide more info after it's back together and the snow up here melts off a bit more.

Do you have a turbo that can flow enough air to support that 8000 RPM?

7800 rpm was plenty at my local auto x... hell, on one real tight course, I never got out of 1st gear just bumping the limiter through the shoot.

JUN makes valve retainers, valve springs and valve guides.

Stoptech makes Valve springs and valve retainers.
