i have no idea. i wouldn't think so. i am just posting what i heard from a good reputable shop that works on a lot of evos.

Uh, yeah, thanks for the repetition...like I said, unless you were stupid and bought one that didn't say what car it was for, you'll all be fine

check your ground. also if your not using the hand brake safety feature you need to ground that wire also. and if you are using the hand brake feature make sure it is connected good.

Holy crap, that's what I said in the first post...mine was too old to even say it was for the Evo...it says it's for the 2g Eclipse.......or was your first post trying to say that using the 2g that is the same as the Evo ruins the Evo?

the harness is Greddy TT-14-43M
if you have a "hiccup" when you turn off the car you need to chang the blue and green wires (ig1 and ig2)

I have also never heard of this.. in fact... has ANYONE on the board other than the original poster heard of this or seen anything like this??? you would think if it was common that at least someone else would have had it happen to them... ?

all i was saying was that when you buy a harness they are all the same. the one i currently have also came off my 2g eclipse when i traded it in. not saying it will mess up the car, because my car isn't messed up. was just posting what i heard from this shop. it might not even be true, maybe it was just some coinsidence with these evo owners that they had the same timers and had the same problem. i didn't believe any of it till he told me that greddy was making a new harness to solve this problem if any. and again, maybe they all had the greddy e-manage also since that is the only thing i heard of that has been frying the coil packs.

Hmm, if it's a low voltage problem, a simple relay could solve that issue...

Oh well, chalk up another reason why I don't use a TT. I'll stick with staying out of the boost for 3 or 4 minutes before parking my car.

I think you're getting two different things mixed up here. The Greddy emanage has fried some coilpacks. Greddy has made an adapter harness that is supposed to address this. The problem seems to occur when the engine is off and the key is in the on (run) position. The emanage energizes the coils, but since the engine isn't running the coils can't discharge, they overheat, and they burn up.

I don't see any way that a turbo timer could harm the coils, especially when the engine is running. I've had a 2g TT harness in my Evo since 60 miles (now at 29,000 and almost 2 years) with no problems, and with the hundreds of TT's installed on this board I'm positive we would have heard about this before now.

Your shop is talking about the emanage, not a turbo timer.
