I would disagree. A friend of mine (jerestan) had the GT35r turbo kit installed. On 93 octane pump gas, he posted 422whp on a DD AWD Dyno. That's about 471whp on a Dynojet. Utec tuned with Kelford cams.

I rode in it a few times, it was very civil for a daily driver actually. Now, the big BR kits, like the 580 are terrible on spool up....

Jerestan, car is the one we are talking about. It use to have a AMS GT35R, UTEC, Kelfrod cams.

The old AMS set up and is now a RnR GT35R, 272's, AEM EMS, RnR Sheet Metal. A guy out here bought the car and decided to change the set up.

head = valves, springs, cams, port work, possibly studs, etc

bottom end = rods, crank and pistons.

Oh wow, I wondered where that beast would show back up. Any more updates on it? I'll be sure to pass onto the previous owner...

Figured he'd go AMS EMS to get the ultimate control, that's what we advised him.

Cheers,
You just put the finger on it, this is exactly what I would like the hear a answer on.

These are all rough estimates. I will have to check my notes later to get the exacts. The 30R will spool 300-400 rpm sooner. On pump gas the 35R would make 30whp more and on race gas another 65-80whp at 30psi

The turbo kit’s spec should be as close to this as possible.

-Spool up around 4000-4500rpm.

-Keep full boost all the way to red line (lets say 8000rpm)

-Make so much power I will be afraid to floor it on the street

-Have a dual ball bearing turbo

I have looked at RnR GT35R kit, looks nice seam to be good value for the money to.

HKS are to expensive. Greddy, nah no bb turbos.

I currently have a stock engine, how much hp will it handle? Would 400hp in the engine be safe?
If you are the kind of person who wants only the best, give Eric #1 or Micah at AMS a call. The fastest Evo's in the country are equipped with our kit. Its quality and performance speak for itsself. Not to mention it comes fully assembled, ready to bolt on, and FULL step by step color instructions. If the kit itsself doesnt sell you, then search and compare our companies history of excelent customer service and follow-up support.

I also noticed your from Sweden. We've sold turbo kits to MANY countries outside the U.S. We even have a world map in the office with pins that show everywhere the kits have gone to. We are very experienced with handling overseas orders and shipping. We love our overseas customers!

Here's my take:

I had a BR440 turbo upgrade along with all of the suggested supporting mods. (It has been suggested that the BR440 is very close in terms of perfomance to the GT3071R.) My impression of the power output my car had with BR440 was that it wasn't *quite* scary to drive on the street. Rather than "Oh sh it I'm going way to friggin fast!!!" it was more of a "Hmm, I'm really cookin' down this road, maybe I should slow it down a bit". Don't get me wrong, the car was still offensively fast to casual bystanders or the uninitiated. Front wheel torque steer was just starting to rear it's head. Tuned & sorted out you should see 400whp from the BR440 or GT3071. My car wasn't fully sorted out and only managed ~350whp on a DynoJet with a Dynoflash. Sorted and tuned with a standalone I don't think 400whp with close to stock like spool would be an issue. Toss in some well tuned water injection and crank the boost to 1.8 bar and I think 430whp would be feasible.

My opinion is that the GT30R, while laggy and a little slower to spool, might kick it up a notch or two into the "scary fast" territory. If you're sensitive to those issues then I'd stick with the 3071 or equivalent. Unfortunately I don't have any personal experience with the GT30R.

Personally, since I'm building a 2.3 stroker, I opted for the Full-Race GT35R. With the increased displacement, head work and thermal coatings I'm hoping the spool & lag will be about what I'd see with a GT30R on a 2 liter motor. If you're interested in a low mileage BR440 with cast manifold & down pipe included, I'll sell you mine. I'll let it go for 11000 SEK + shipping & duty
