Advice me on turbo kit

Hi I would like to hear what you guys think about the different turbo kits on the market today,

I have a Evo8 and would like to make 400hp on the wheels or more in the future.

The turbo kit’s spec should be as close to this as possible.

-Spool up around 4000-4500rpm.

-Keep full boost all the way to red line (lets say 8000rpm)

-Make so much power I will be afraid to floor it on the street

-Have a dual ball bearing turbo

I have looked at RnR GT35R kit, looks nice seam to be good value for the money to.

HKS are to expensive. Greddy, nah no bb turbos.

I currently have a stock engine, how much hp will it handle? Would 400hp in the engine be safe?

dude, yeah the engine can handle the 400hp, but to have a turbo spool that late will kill you, you will lose just about every race, the evo's are so quick because the start to spool at about 2000-2500 rpm, and make their peak pressure at about 3500-4000 rpm. do cams fuel system, full exhaust and intake systems and get a piggy back ecu. and you should make enough power you will **** your self. that is if you have only driven a factory evo

I was in the same boat as you as far as wanting to get 400 hp, and thought I needed a turbo to do it. Right now with my setup (UTEC, 264/272 combo, RS intake, TXS TB, 700CC, etc..) I am quite please with this daily driver. I have only made one dyno run, and it wasn't even close to 400, but I am quite satisfied with the driveability.

One of my friends here in houston has a gt35r, aem, etc.. and he is going back to the stock turbo setup. His driveabilty was just plain sh!tty. He was not pleased with the daily driving, but he did make some hella hp numbers.

It is just a compromise of what level you want to go to.

My .02 is just keep the stock turbo, or wait until the 20g makes some progress.

Reine, what did I tell you??

Guys, am I correct when I tell him that a GT30 is as big as you need to go if you only were to use pump gas at 93-94 octane ANI? (which is about equal to our 98 octane RON)

I’ve heard that 500hp is about what you could get out of a 2L EVO engine as long as you run pump gas, to really benefit from a larger turbo like the GT35 you must use race gas? And a GT35 on pump gas wouldn’t make much more power than a GT30 you would just lose drivability?

listen, if a evo has a piggy back, cams and gears, fuel exhaust and intake system, and head work, it isnt a "stage 1" i have ridden in a evo from georgia that was making aprox. 450hp at the wheels and it was insane.

I personally have been really happy with the GT35R kit we sell. Recently we had a customer make 480hp on 91 octance and 20psi. That is with

GT35R W/equal length manifold
AEM EMS
RnR Sheet Metal Intake
RnR Stage 5 head
etc, etc

NO alcohol injection

Ok, sounds fair enough Ryan, but if you had put on one of the GT30's with the same spec as my friend Nermin bought from you ie. GT3076 with .82 a/r turbine and tuned it as optimal as possible what kind of power could we expect given the same supporting mods? And how much improvement in spool up would we see?

Cheers,

While not exactly 480WHP, how about this: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=107834

Ryan, what A/R turbine do you recommend for a 2.3 stroker? .63?

I'm not trying to be critical or anything, just curious about the difference?

With a 2L engine and on pump gas would you benefit much from the GT35 compared to the GT30? I would like som comparable numbers?

When do you exactly need to start building the engine at what WHP range ???? The head meaning pistons and rods or the entire bottom end ??? my main concern is when do i need to do that at what WHP ??
