Unhappy Coolant problem....help!

heres the problem, i recently put a 3" catback and a helix dp. i replaced the coolant in the radiator the other day. while replenishing the coolant in the radiator, i filled the radiator and the resivor tank to its capacity and then let the car run for about 5-10 min. coolant in resivor tank gets low. no problem fill it right up. took the car out the next day only drove the car for 10 min checked the coolant again and the resivor tank is half empty again. i keep having to add coolant. can anyone give me some info to whats going on? thanks

are you filling it to the top... your only supposed to fill it to the fill line...you have to have room for the coolant to expand and contract...read your manual..

well if it keeps overflowing, get a pressure test done on the cooling system.. most likely it will be a head gasket or cracked head..

don't forget, that when you drain your coolant, and then fill it back up, there is space in the engine as well as the hoses. i wouldn't worry too much unless you have white smoke from your exhaust or unless your oil turns milky. just keep filling a little @ a time.

when you are changing your coolant, you should fill it to top it off, and let it run for 10 to 15 min. until you're t-stat opens. the top hose and bottom hose should be same temp.. making sure u dont have air bubbles, keep squeezing the hoses till its gone. shut it off. check your resevoir and fill it to the line if its low.
