Correct, you tap the manifold like you would the stocker, just have to be extra careful.

Probably a dumb question, but does AutoZone have them, or do I have to order one?

that would be cylinder #2. Mine is installed about 2 inches away from where the manifold meets the engine. Dont do it too far because 1) your readings wont be that accurate and 2) you will have to drill a hole also in your exhaust manifold heat shield. Also dont drill anything with the car on since you might damage the turbo with any tiny piece of metal that might get through, so have the car off and clean as you go. Use some high penetrant spray to make it easier. Remember to measure 10times and drill before you do anything. hope this helps.

The guy at the shop told me that the runners are the most accurate when the car is new or not too old. But when the car is older it wont be as accurate because the runners wont produce the same temps as before, or something like that

it was my understanding that EGT guage is not that accurate eitherway and its purpose is to give you a 'general' idea of what is going on in the cylinders/engine.

for example:
if you plug your egt sensor in #2 and then your #3 injector fails/gets in trouble.. you would have no idea.... I also know alot of guys that dont want to drill in their expensive manifolds. So they put the egt sensor in the DP after the turbo.

I know there are many ways to do this, many different opinions on what is best.

I have done it both ways on different cars and they both worked for me.

It will be fun! really....the only thing that I was careful with was the tapping. Just take your time and look forward to some good temp readings. I went ahead and bought new gaskets at the dealer...i think it was around $20 for the exhaust manifold gasket.

Just ordered a new gasket from the dealership, might as well replace it as long as I'm gonna be taking it off.

If I remember and don't get too pissed off...I'll take pics during the process and post a how-to. It's not going to be difficult, but it'd be nice to have for people doing it in the future.
