Question TME install questions

I noticed that on the turbo itself that i need to screw in studs on the two lower holes on the exhaust housing. Or do i just get shorter bolts and just screw those in instead?

Basically what i am asking for is a detailed walkthrough possibly with some pictures on how to install this turbo. And maybe suggestions on whether porting the exhaust manifold is worth the $.

thanks
joe

goto advanced auto, look for the aisle that has the little boxes of parts that are red and say HELP on them. Look for the one that says exhaust manifold repair kit. It will have a few 10 mm studs and a few 10 mm bolts. Those will be the studs and bolts that you will need to screw into the exhaust housing.

Also theres really not a walkthrough for this install. Not that i've found anyways.

Figures that there is not a pictured walkthrough. I just thought out of everyone one on this board that someone has done this before me.

Here are some basics

you are going to have to drain your radiator, and remove it, you will also need to drain your oil. Remove the cross members and the downpipe. When taking the turbo off the exhaust manifold it would be best if you had lots of penetrating oil and an impact wrench. That way you wont be as likely to break studs. Same thing goes for the o2 housing, and the o2 housing shield. The thick gaskets betweent he exhaust manifold and the turbo and the o2 housing and the turbine housing are reusable. If you rip the gasket onthe oil return line you will either need to buy a new one or make one from some sort of gasket material. Other than that it's pretty simple. Take the things that are in your way out of the way and it comes right out.

Also dont foget about the bolt that bolts the turbine housing to the engine block.
