and the times it happened to me...i pulled down the gearbox and found that my twin disc clutch was all messed up.
for example....at the drag track...
i went up to the line and stopped.....engaged first and red lighted because the car started moving foward even though my clutch was straight down....
floored it though and in fourth felt the slip...

no he speaks the truth that is one way to tell the condition of your clutch but if u are goin to do it do it once the car is warm and has been ran to get it accurate.
If I am not mistaking, just put it in 5th gear and try to move the car as if you're in first. It should stall. What 2literturbos said on his post #5.

well I know some of you are bound to disagree with what I think...
but it happened to me on two occasions when I was all staged and ready to race.
and these two time when I pulled down the box...the hks twin disc was all messed up.

To determine if the clutch slips too much, start the engine, put the transmission in high gear and slowly release the clutch pedal. If the engine stalls immediately, the clutch is not slipping. If the engine continues to run when the clutch is fully engaged, the clutch is slipping excessively. If the engine slows but continues to run, the clutch is slipping partially.
Or you can test using the method you mentioned by flooring it. If the clutch is slipping, instead of accelerating steadily, the motor will rev up almost like it's in neutral.
what are you guys talking about 5th gear roll??? the car is going to stall the car will barley roll from 3rd let alone 4th or even 5th. listen to EVOTEXAS floor the car and if the RPMS fly up or your car isnt going fast your clutch is going
-Steve
PS EVOTEXAS im comming down to texas on Saturday and im going to be at that restraunt on monday...what time are you guys gonna show up. ill be in a suburban i dont want to drive the evo all the way from chicago.

they are correct. it is a test. if your car stalls in 4th (i have always done it in 4th) then its bad, if it doesnt stall then you have a problem. now dont slip it to get it to run, instead remove your foot like you would a slow roll in 1st - not launch, but like a slow roll
On my stock clutch. One day out of the blue it started slipping in every gear. I had the car florerd in first when I slammed into second the rpm's shot up. I thought I broke something. After pulling over and checking things out. Every thing seem normal just slipping in every gear right when it hits the boost about 3000rpm's. So is this normal. I have 8000miles on it never noticed it slipping before then wham it slipping. not a lot of launches but I do drive it hard. It has some power right around 300HP
