Simple way to tell if your clutch is dying
The 5th gear test I was talking about was like this.
At around 60-65 MPH put the car in 5th gear and floor it. In low RPMs if your clutch is near death it will slip. In the premature stages of clutch wear you will notice, when the engine is cold, that the clutch will slip in 5th gear with this test, but as it advances it will gradually slip in all gears.
I replaced my clutch the second I noticed it slipping in 5th while cold. Upon inspection of the clutch disk I could have drive it for another 2000 miles or so without terrible problems, so those of you that don't have a min. $1000 to drop on the clutch should start saving as soon as you notice the slip.
