Exedy Clutch Types

Hi guys,

Need your advice on selecting one of Exedy clutches available in the market for my 08 Evo X, there are such types of Exedy clutches, Standard, HD and SD duties. I am really confused what to go for?. my aim is 500~650 AWPH. so which one is good to achieve my goal? plus i am a street and drag racer and i need a clutch also reliable for for a daily drive car.

thank you

For that power you'd want the Exedy Stage 2 HD, which may end up being a bit rough for the street (for me anyway). Check out the Clutchmasters FX400, might be a nice compromise for you.

I have a Evo 9 and i went with the exedy twin HD and its great. Little more noise heard from inside the car than the factory and its a little harder to drive smooth but i got used to it in bout 30 mins of in town driving. And once you get past the 750 mile break in period you will like it even more because it gets easier to drive. But you do have to realize when buying an exedy twin you are buying a real clutch. Harder to press and not as forgiving. I have put 8000 miles on mine now and i love it. And i think its one of the best all around clutches. Dont see how any others could beat it. Hope this helps.

I have almost 20k and 10 launches on my Excedy Twin HD. Love the clutch. Best clutch I have ever had. I have no issues and I DD 60+miles a day in bay area stop and go traffic.

I don't know. I do know I found a pole when I googled exedy twin and it was rated the highest out of the 5 most popular clutches. Like the only other one that was close was ACT. But I've seen my friends car have high rpm lockout issues with those. That's y I went with exedy.

I run the ACT HD 6 puck, no lock outs here. those were common in earlier models. I also have 8k miles on my ACT and still on stock CMC and i run the car hard (no granny shifting here). Exedy, you WILL be replacing yours soon. But i do have a Magnus in the garage for just incase.

For a price nothing as good as the exedy. Also they are the oem clutch manufacturers too, so they have been involved the Evolution for a loooong time now , if not from the beginning. I honestly dont remember that.
Other clutches like Cusco or HKS are also based on Exedy, but with some modification on them, as far as i know.

I just think the Exedy is a simple and good choice for a clutch in the evo. Sure there are better clutches out there but you really want to pay those prices , example for a good CF clutches.
