He's definately tied up. Don't worry guys I don't think he'll leave us hanging since this thread was made back in March and he's still checking/posting in it (which doesn't happen too often). He just needs time to get this HUGE project sorted out.

We still haven't received the engine back from AMS. The custom pistons took longer than they thought. AMS is telling me that they will be done by the end of next week.

While we've been waiting for the engine we've redone the interior, had all of the piping plated, etc. Once the engine is back it's just a matter of putting everything back together which shouldn't take too long. After that it's back on the road and the dyno for tuning.

We destroyed the old stroker engine and believe it was caused by a high O2 content fuel called "Powermist." The fuel isn't at fault, we are since we didn't tune it properly. This fuel requires an extremely rich tune because of the heat it generates unlike most high octane race fuels. The distributor didn't warn us of this "minor" fact until it was too late. We tuned the car as if we were using VP120 which was a major mistake. The heat that this fuel generated (and our tune) literally melted the pistons. We're going back to good 'ole VP 120 and C16, no more screwing around.

The car will be dialed in by race season. We've learned alot during this project but man has it been expensive! I don't have a single sponsor for this car and have not received a dime in part discounts. Also, only one person is doing all of the engineering and installation. All of this takes a great deal of time and the engine mishap was a major set back.

I'll keep you posted as things progress.

Seriously, your car is a SPEED channel documentary waiting to happen.

Did you decide to keep the Haldex turbo or ditch it for a GT35 or GT42 like you were talking about?

Terry,

For now we're sticking with the Holsett. The Holsett has the same flow potential as the GT42r. We were making 35psi at about 4400 rpms with the Holsett and we're not sure that it would benefit us to spool any quicker. Then GT42r might make even more boost sooner but we're at the point now that more power down low might actually do more harm then good.

I have a funny feeling that once your car makes some decent runs a sponsership is not too far away. If you desire having them that is...

Can't wait for the results. Good luck.
