greddy profect e-01 & e-manage

on march 6th my sponsor is holding a import shootout atbeech bend here in bowling green ky. they are wanting me to win this thing, and were ganna do as much as possible, from the time i get the evo until then. im ganna have to break it in, and get the break-in miles on the car in about a week so i have about 2 weeks for parts install and tune. so, ive started buying as much parts, or the universal part (ie all gauges, turbo timer, boost controller, fuel controller, etc.). ive been looking at the new greddy profect e-01 boost controller, and it mates up for a controller to the greddy e-manage engine management system. has anyone had any experience with these systems so they can tell me how well they work? the e-manage seems to be a piggy back style fuel computer similar to the safc, but works on a lap-top untill the profect e-01 came out. the evo comes with 550 or 560 cc injectors???,, but i know the safc cannot controll injectors larger than 550 cc. is the e-manage the same?

also, the profect e-01 has a 3 channel data logging system. as unclear as it seems, i wonder if it can data log knock sums registered by the factory knock sensor like other data loggers do. i need this as i will be running much higher than normal boost levels, and want to make sure, none, if any detonation occurs. even though i have an egt pyrometer gauge, this needed feature would show exactly where, im recieving knock sums, and any that i migt miss while keeping my eye on the road. check out the pictures attatched. tell me your all views on these 2 systems.

heres the greddy profect e-01 boost controller:
Greddy's new super multiu-tasker is the Profec e-01. Designed as a combination: boost-controller, data display / logger and e-manage programmer, the e-01 can prcide superios boost response, increased boost, warning meter functions, 3 channel data-logging, and access to all the programming feautres provided with the latest e-manage support tool. Even when used as just a boost controller the e-01 has fatures to smooth out the boost curve. With both an Auto and Manual setting for both external and actuator style wastegates, the new profec can alter its compact, high capacity solenoid valve via various RPM ranges if needed. The large LCD screen, with green electro-luminescent backlighting is easy to see. Other standard feautres includes two preset boost levels, a timed over-take boost and compatibillity with our remote switching system. The data dispaly can view 3 different data channels simultaneously; boost, RPM, or any other channel iput by the e-manage. Up to 3 hours of data can be logged on an SD card while also giving warning set points, and peak & hold values. (some features require optional harness to be accessed).

That is incorrect. The SAFC can controll "whatever size cc" injectors.

Sugggestion....

I am fairly new at the tuning thing but have heard great feedback on the AEM Plug & Play Programmable Engine Management System. Personally I would also rather go with one unit than using two, if the one product has all the features I need. The "piggy back" thing gets shady if you do major mods.....

It may not come out quick enough for you but I know it is being released for the US Lancer in March 2003, not sure about the EVO.

Give em a call..... (310) 484-2322

AEM EMS

P.S. Good luck with your race

Expect it to be in the $1,300-1,700 range. I believe it does require some sort of computer to tune, but they are very flexible and, as I understand it, easy to tune compared to other companies' programmable ECU's. I'd buy one for my car if AEM could have a little freakin' consistency and actually release products that their website and their techs SAY are released. ::grumbles::

I got a quoted price in the range of 2K. The eclipse one runs 2,200 and they said the US Lancer model will be slightly under.

Best bet is to give em a call.....

One thing I must say is their tech site with downloadable maps and such is very useful for the newbie.... Like me. I am only recommending on documentation and usability.

I think Hobie ripped them before for Customer Service, which I got a clue of when I called them. They hire people who don't know much about their product...... Except the tech's.

EDIT: Yeah you need a compy to program the thing, not necessarily a lappy...... Kinda like configuring a network router.

Good luck gettin on the phone with a tech and not his/her VM. I've seen the eclipse one for as little as $1,300 and as much as $1,660. When you order from the manufacturer expect to pay full retail. If you don't order directly from them you'd probably save quite a bit of money.
