Questions on dead spark plugs.
Got a question can dead or dieing spark plugs cuase a Cel light??? I just had my fuel rails and injectors put in and tuned. The car has 17,000 miles on it and just started the cel. Its a mis fire code but can that b cuased by my plugs also.??? And yes it is a 03 but this is the first time its doing this. The idel is retarted to sometimes it will start right up some times it light maybe ill start maybe i wont any help please.??
ok, what boost are you running. Since you did the fuel upgrade im sure ur running higher boost. If so you might have got a over boost to make the cel which would detonate your spark plugs. Get some iradium spark plugs (pricey but worth it) and get you cel checked out and see whats going on.
I didnt see that the code was a misfire. All evos have that prob. with the misfire. Get the iradium plugs and take the neg. off the battery for a sec. you will be set.
I wouldnt take it to the dealer ship to get te new software cause it could over write your flash then your going to cause probs.

All evos DO NOT have that misfire issue.. However I would recommend changing your plugs, cheap enough insurance, at 17k miles, original plugs, its probably a good idea anyway, I use cheaper plugs (NGKBPR7ES) and change them every 5000 miles (Every oil change)
If you have a plug misfiring bad enough, it can trigger a CEL, however you don't say specifically what error code it is, if its a random misfire P0300 then thats a pretty common error.
Did you have ANY other codes thrown? Sometimes you'll have a stored code, but the light won't come on until you hit another code...
Anyway, before you get too concerned, change out your plugs...

Thanks.
i use denso 11's
actually just messed up my plugs yesterday. they're easy to check...if u dont want to check it yourself, any shop would be able to.
and as malibu jack said if the plug or plugs are really bad...it can trigger a CEL due to misfiring.
