FREE Dyno test opportunity

I am looking for a volunteer tester with a Evo 8 for a free dyno test session to test and verify my theory that the K & N drop in pannel filter does not cuase significant changes in a/f ratios on the Evo 8

If you like the test reults you can buy a K & N panel filter at our cost - - or you can just keep your stock filter

We are looking ONLY for evos with stock air box

I'm willing to take a drive up to Milford again . I' really like to see if the K&N panel filter caused my car to run lean with the xede unit, if its ok with Al and the Vishnu team. Although one question though, would my ecu have to be flashed back to stock inorder to run the xede unit and program?

Out theory is we like to test evrything out and show real world dyno results before we start shooting off our mouths

we already have tested te K & N filter many times and it has NIL effect on the a/f curves

Its amazing how many excuses some people will make to blame others !

We are doing this so we can post up the dyno sheets and disproove the false claims that have been made

Should have different people with other intake setups to show the negativity of using an intake with a MAF system

Full intakes - eg the hks suction kit or aem intake DO throw off the maf readings - we already have tested that many times

However - what we are talking about here is a drop in panel filter which keeps the stock air box and which has minimal effects

how funny would it be to see Al have a dyno day/session in Shivs shop! Do you think we'd ever see the day?

I know Al, I'm just saying there is no real written down, documented proof, regardless of the fact that it's been tested and known of for a VERY long time.

Some people are reluctant to believe until they see hard proof. But I agree with you, the K&N drop in changes the ratio very little, not significantly at all.

Hey Al,
I just got back from a weekend trip. The reason I don't recommend K&N air filters is due to oil contamination of the MAF. Happens without some people ever knowing it. This is especially a problem when folks take advantage of their "re-usable" properties and over-oil then after cleanings. Ends up inducing MAF misreadings. Same goes with foam filters which also rely on oil for filtering. The other problem with some foam filters is that they tend to harden up if not maintained and deteriorate, often getting sucked up into the turbo. This being the case, the stock airbox, IMHO, is the best choice for those who just want a good intake system that doesn't need anything more than 10K mile filter replacement.

Regards,
shiv

I can reply with a real experience with oil on the MAF. During this years One Lap of America we changed the stock filter to a K&N drop in after our dirt track round (!), as soon as I went onto the track in Memphis the car would not run right. It was real "notchy" as it reved and struggled to pull redline, it was obvious she was way down on power. We wrongly assumed it was bad gas. Turns out we had tosted our MAF, It was replaced after the event and the car was perfect again. The filter we put in was brand new out of the box with NO extra oil added (so it wasn't an overzelous re-oil). I would not have belived myself as I have always sworn by K&N
