How much was the MAF so people can start saving

I can reply with a real experience with oil on the MAF. During this years One Lap of America we changed the stock filter to a K&N drop in after our dirt track round (!), as soon as I went onto the track in Memphis the car would not run right. It was real "notchy" as it reved and struggled to pull redline, it was obvious she was way down on power. We wrongly assumed it was bad gas. Turns out we had tosted our MAF, It was replaced after the event and the car was perfect again. The filter we put in was brand new out of the box with NO extra oil added (so it wasn't an overzelous re-oil). I would not have belived myself as I have always sworn by K&N

Hey AL... I have exactly that. PM me if you want me to visit you. I only have the K&N drop in filter and everything else is stock.

Al, buschur, vivid, vishnu, how many "out of the box" K&N filters have you seen that may have caused MAF damage?

I have 1, no problems yet, but is there any need for concern?

i know that on the 99 Subaru RS's it would kill the MAF within a few hundred miles. i dont know how fragile the mitsu ones are..
personally why risk it?

the stock filter flows enough for me

None - it amazes me the stupidity level that some people will resort to to avoid confronting reality

My additude is tune the car properly and then you dont have to make any excuses

We have the K & N tests done - NO differences on maf signals - will be posting up the dyno sheets later

It's always nice to have data to back up any issue. NICE!

Is it possible to post the logged MAF signal? Hell, even if you did; your still going to hear "Well, during our testing........." Which is valid to some degree, i guess.

I am glad to hear that there was no issue or minimal variance in MAF sensor output.

lol

this is just rediculous! why state such outright claims that the k&n filters WILL kill your maf???

has it happend to one evo yet? not as far as i've heard.

i've used k&n's in many cars with no issues for 10's of thousands of miles!

: on these statements!

do the drop-ins add a lot of power? usually not.. but it's convenient and does sometimes add a few hp.. mainly in the higher rpms... especially the cone filters.. it's been shown over and over again..

but why mod a car??? let's keep em stock! that'll give the longest life of the vehicle..
