Hello so i have a 2003 evolution 8 5 speed and recently went in for a tune
before i get into it here are the specs of the car
walbro 255
stock injectors
hks 264 cams
upgraded fmic
upper intercooler piping
Intake with k&n filter "filter was dirty and oily" i suspect i need catch can
stock lower piping
stock manifold
8.5 turbo
3 inch exhaust and tanabe touring catback system
downpipe/test pipe/no CEL/ passes NYS inspection
The car had boost leaks that were fixed and new plugs were installed and gapped.
started out with fuel issue so swapped out for another 255 then swapped cam sensor and FPR for stock replacements laying around the shop.
the maf sensor was then replaced and the car ran good all way WOT, but its not making the power it should last dyno number was 286 hp at 20 psi
erkel was cool and told me to come back since i kind of came late and it was his birthday
He did not want to go more until the issue was resolved, which i agree, so the tune is incomplete for now, the car runs much better than when i rolled into the shop but with these bolt on shouldnt i be seeing much higher numbers?
things to look at next would be cam position? timing? turbo going bad?i know it could be a laundry list of things but a good starting point would help. Thank you!

What fuel (octane)? 286whp at 20psi seems reasonable. Even on 91 octane, you should be able to turn the boost up to 23ish and crack 300. 93 octane a bit more...
dyno dynamics (heartbreaker dyno) if im not mistaken. reads low. that seems good for 20 psi on stock fuel injectors. have him dial up to 24-25 psi. Make sure you have enough big enough fuel injectors for it. also, get yourself a 3-port boos solenoid while you are at it.
to add: upgrade your lower ic pipe (i recommend the ETS one), 3" downpipe and a high flow cat or test pipe. intake if you want but not entirely necessary right now. let that turbo breathe better. hks 264 cams are very mild. just a notch better than stock. GSC S1's(mid range), S2's (mid to high) and Kelford 272's(mid to high) do well. i have kelford 272's and trust me our 8's need bigger cams to make decent power. good luck!
Sounds good will be sourcing a lower fmic setup soon before i hit the rollers.
i forgot to mention it does have an intake along with a downpipe "post updated"

Reason: error
okay fellas i think i may have found my issue, after closer inspection it looks like my turbo is missing the clamp that holds the cold and hot side together. =(
There was exhaust gasses escaping from it causing the surrounding areas to turn black.
not sure why espec did not pick up on it, but i will report back with updates as soon as i can.
You def need to get the clamp on there. FP sells them. I would stop driving the car. The more that wiggles around, the more likely the turbine will contact the housing, which could ruin both parts.
