HELP... evo sputters at high boost

OK, heres the deal. I just took my evo out of winter storage. I changed the oil already. I already ran the old gas through and put in a fresh new tank of 93 octane. Whenever the car reaches 20psi the car sputters and hesitates. I'm not sure what is causing this. At first I thought it was the old winter gas, but even with this new tank, the same thing is happening.

I got 255 pump, hks 272, exhaust, and a bunch of other stuff. I was tuned at TurboTrix In August.

anybody have any ideas???

thanks!!

Hi,

Seems like several evo guys are having probs like this.

First, take a look at your plugs. You may need to close the gap to .025 or so. Also, make sure your plug wires are making a good connection. In my case, my Magnecor wires didn't have the best fitment, and swapping back to stock wires solved my problem.

Other posters mentioned similar problems that were related to the fuel pump. Also, make sure there aren't any boost leaks.

Good luck.

I talked to Mark at TurboTrix and he suggest to change my plugs and gap them to .24

you think there could be boost leak? It's completely fine up until 20psi when it just sputters. I'll check, but I'm definitely thinking it's the plugs

thanks for the help. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

I think it is the plugs too. When I had bought new plugs it didn't fit the wires so good and there was a space in it which cause it to do what your discribing. I put the old plugs back in and everything is all good.

is it a sputter or does the car totally fall out...if the latter, could be fuel cut.

if the former, plugs are the first place to check

I would think boost leaks or plugs too. You really should do a pressure test. I couldn't believe how many leaks I had until we hooked up to an air compressor. There were little leaks everywhere.

I changed the plugs to the BR8ES gapped at .025 and swapped back to the original wires and I still have that problem. I'm probably getting the fuel cut then right?
