Didn't they Just Bold out the Install Forged OR LSD. Because the LSD removes the Spider Gears.

I like them very much, especially their racing engine oils.

As for using Shockproof in the transfer case, I have some concerns.

First this oil should be capable in this application. This oil has some impressive data in regards to how good it performs but we occasionally get a transfer case that has a worn out ring & pinion that had Shockproof oil inside. Now this doesn't necessarily mean that the oil was at fault because it's unknown whether or not the damage was already there before the owner switched to Shockproof in the first place.

One thing for sure, you must use a GL-5 "hypoid" type gear oil. Do not use any oil that claims to be GL-3,4 & 5. I prefer single viscosity oils in severe applications such as this transfer case because they generally have a better film strength.

Jon,

If the front differential shares the same sump oil as the tranny, can the helical lsd be lubricated by GL4?

Hey Jon,

Would mobil 1 75w 90(maybe thats right) be alright to go with in the manual trans?
Fifth gear may like to grind now in the upper rpms.
If I dont fix it, you maybe getting a transmission.

^another prospect for a new tranny dont use gl5 mobil one.....fluid is everything. Make sure the GL4 rating is on the tranny fluid you choose to use.

I take back some of the talk that mitsu has allot of bad trannies.....user error is in these days i guess.

Yes, it was designed to work with GL4 oil.

You can get a little more action out of it by using a Synchromesh type oil too.

Only if the oil is a GL4 and not a GL5.

GL5 is too slippery for proper function of the synchros.

Ive got 2000 miles on the TC now, and its awesome, It just feels Meaner! I broke it is as recommended.2-3K miles before beating the **** out of it! change the fluid at 1K miles. Change all your fluids at 2K to be safe. dont go by mitshu guidelines!!!!!!!!! I do Solemly swear to put only the fluid Jon tells me to!!!!!!!! I have use redline in there, and I think its what dusched my TC. there is info(thread) that Bushur went thru 3 TC's using redline. Dont do it. If Jon tells me I have to use only Diaqueen and wear a thong in order to perserve my TC....................... I might have to!
