On their site, it says the 3071R spools up quicker than the 3076R.

I think he meant to say the 3071R is closest to stock turbo spool. 3076 is larger than the 3071. Its even stated on their site.

Does anyone else feel that their is a lack of turbo options for the EVO?

ATP/AMS both offer 3071, 3076 and GT35R. BR has different names but seems like the same overall turbos... 440 being closest to the 3071, 500-3076 and of course the 580/gt35r.

I guess Im used to the choices DSMs have. There must be 50-60 different combos available. Full Garretts in 20 different combos, Mitsu turbos, Mitsu/garret hybrids... etc... For instance, GT30R you can get from Victory Perf. in 4 different trims and have the BB option. Thats 8 choices right there!

If I could make a wish, its that Forced Performance would make the FP3052 for the EVO. THAT would be killer!

Can't. The FP3052 uses V-band 02 and its mirrored completely. Inlet is on the passenger side of an EVO/exhaust side is on the driver side.

There are a few more choices. You can do the 3037 which I think has a little more power than the 3076, a T67 offered through one or two JDM companies and Apexi has their RX6 turbo kit featured on the Sparco Evo in prototype form.

I have a feeling a couple companies are working on 20g turbos also behind the scenes.

There are less turbo options for the Evo compared to DSMs for a couple reasons:
1. The Evo turbo is prety darn good as at is. Not may people venture to go above 400-420 whp...which is what these turbos are capable of on race gas.
2. USDM has only had their hands on the evo for 2 years. The market for evo uprades just hasnt had the market demand that it has now. Expect more kits to be coming out in the next few years.

we did 435 all wheel horsepower on the stock turbo. a kit for under 4k is not hard to find, its all the other stuff you need to go with it.

the reason there is not any choices is because the turbo spins backwards, unlike any other turbo that offered for the mitsus. look into an adapter kit, that keeps the price low.

Youre absolutely right and that is why Im *****ing! I wish they were here now!

Although, while I was being bitter looking over options for an upgraded turbo I forgot to include a vendor who has a great line-up which is slightly different. RNR!

The EXACT set-up Id like is availble from them. 02, downpipe, wastegate, and GT30R BB (3052 specs!!!) 52 trim compressor/50lbs min flow. All for $2950. The tubular mani is $600 option and 3"intake is $200 option. Ill probably end up going with that.

Why has no one mentioned the RNR 50-trim kit? It's make 450WHP on pump easily more on race and if you catch them during a group buy the kit is 1800 bucks....

or is RNR out of buisness?

That is why you rotate it before you bolt it to the manifold. You will need a slim fan most likely but it will fit. That is what Buschur does with his different kits.

The real answer is just piece together you own stuff. If you can catch the RNR kit on sale I would jump on that and just sell the t3/t4 and put in a GT series turbo. If not just buy a manifold that you like and a turbo. Making oil/water lines is no big deal and an exhaust shop can weld you up a down pipe for cheap. Most of the turbo kits on the market aren't worth the money they cost.
