This is what I'm looking for, someone with the BR500 turbo kit. I've honestly just discovered this kit and IMO for the price it seems kinda hard to beat (on paper anyway). I've pretty much narrowed down my options to this kit and the T-67 kit by greddy. The shop that will be doing the install and tuning just dynoed a Evo with the greddy kit on pump gas and boost set at 19 lbs. They got 415hp/343tq with a super safe tune (very low a/f ratio). The kid already blew one of his motors before and decided to go all out this time with a complete build. That kit is $3,400 though and non-bb. Does anyone else on here have experience with the BR-kits? I already have cams, cam gears, crank, greddy FMIC....and so on. Now I'm just looking for a turbo kit to put me over 400hp safely if possible.

the adapters.... well... maybe he's referring to atp's hot sides... tho that might not keep costs down so much (save you teh cost of a decent mani to power the bigger ones, 3071 is ok to run on stock mani tho, but there's other issues with the atp all together)

vishnu is coming out with their twin scroll extention (which is what i refer to it as) it's bascially an adapter between the stock mani and the 3071 that they run.

i believe dave was omitting the 3071 when he talked about stock turbo spool, so i'll just put this in here as a reminder that the 3071 exists and it is better than the stock turbo tho i wish the car came with it so i wouldn't have to spend quite a few pennies to buy it.

as far as everything else that's been said... it's tru that the stock turbo will not put out 450 nor 500 and i believe even with a built head and built internals it would not be able to achieve anything like that and even more importantly, be able to hold that for anything more than a glorified spike. reason being the compressor is the cap... won't flow anymore IN, it's not about OUT... you build the head yer just gonna have yerself a bottleneck at the intake... also if you read carefully... they already used race gas... the 422 figure is on race gas... don't know what kind but even if it's not c16... what i said before still holds

that being said... the stock turbo is a terribly unbeatable deal... if dave can just come out with the 20g there is no more aftermarket for turbos as far as the evo is concerned... at least not anything smaller than a gt35r and for those smart enough a 3052... from there on out... people will be building crazy twin scroll manis and cast long tube headers. but until that happens... i'll still entertain these discussions.

i think if the 20g comes out... my setup will want to be... 20g wheel with the ti/al wheel and 9.8 hotside... see how much torque i could make... then i'll throw in that 280 cam combo with the abnormal cam timing... shift the torque a bit and have the ultimate response turbo setup ever.

I for one am going to find out what the stock turbo is capable of.
I am currently putting in Buschur's rods and pistons.
Porting the head with 1mm over valves.
272 Cams/Revolver Springs and Retainers
Buschur ported intake and 65mm TB
Buschur Ported exhaust manifold and O2 housing
Ported 9.8 hotside
Buschur IC piping
Buscher 680 Injectors

This is an ongoing project and it will be month probably before it runs.
I still need to get the Rods and Pistons, Throttle Body, Injectors
I am just not rich.

I don't see a point in a bigger turbo when the pistons will only last so long under the stress.
A couple have already cracked. I'd rather have a strong motor before a turbo upgrade then doing the turbo and finding out the motor couldn't handle it when I just spent all of my money on a turbo kit.

WOW, I got the 20G in here yesterday. Beautiful part. I wish it was easier to dyno the car or I had this part two weeks ago.

I am going to do some datalogging today on the road with the stock turbo, use the AEM to log runs and MPH. Then I am going to swap on this 20G and see what it looks like, improvements etc.

I actually ended up purchasing Apexi's RX6 turbo kit over a year ago along with a BJ's Racing intake manifold. To date my best dyno has been 449 at 21 lbs. It's a decent little kit.

Brought back from the dead, but as I was reading through I thought, hey, look how far we have come now! We have 20g's, several 30's, 35's, 40's, 42's...various trims from 50-60mm+... not to mention the amount of great kits out there now. We have come quite a ways in such a short time
