Question Help me enjoy my EVO again .......

okay been having slight problems ever since ACT clutch install. Something wasn't right after the installment. Car is laggy. Boost is laggy. Boost will hit 20-21psi at WOT but man the torqe on the EVO is gone. Current setup is BR S4 and I don't think I can win against a BR stage 1 EVO, stock evo , or stock SRT4. I've tried boost leak test and fixed minor leak on the intercooler coupler but still no torque/power. Have and tried both the 1g and turbo xs rfl bov.

Any suggestions/recommendations? Boost leak? exhaust leak? vacuum leak? bov? What will be the symtoms of each?

If it is a boost leak will my boost gauge still be reading 20-21psi?

Vendors if you think you can diagnose and fix the problem let me know? Price?

compression test and leak down test are my suggestions

and/or get your car on a dyno to see what s going on with the A/F ratio

I personally think it's your clutch. Maybe it wasn't installed correctly. I have had ACT clutche's in the past and wouldn't recommend using them again. But that's just my opinion. The problem occurred right after the clutch installment so it obviousely couldn't be engine problem. If it's not the clutch then it could be hoses that were disconnected during installment but not connected securely. I would recheck all the hoses, wires and especially vaccum hoses. Good luck!

I have not check engine compression and should do it. I'm not sure if it's the clutch or if something got loose during the install. Could be a vaccum hose, lower intercooler pipe, downpipe, etc.

I like it when I first had the car using the turbo xs rfl. I don't mind the bov. It's loud and the driveability will not be as good as a recirculating bov (1g). THe car will likely stall with this turbo xs BOV though.

Check compression first b/c that's easier and cheaper than pulling out the clutch.

I'm going to check it this weekend. I hope it's not the clutch. I believe it's something related to boost, vacuum, or exhaust leak.

What's the idle and vaccumm reading on everyone's car during cold start? Before my clutch install the idle would be at around 1500 rpm and vaccum at 15. Now rpm sometimes go up and down between 1300 and 1700 rpm and vaccum between 15 and 10. Looks like this is a sign of boost or vaccum leak but I"m not sure.

my turbo xs rfl works fine with no issues. it's also holding better & even louder since i run 25 psi on 101 octane.

i would also check to make sure your timing is okay. if that belt for any reason jumped or came off, you're in trouble.

My evo idles at 15 psi of vacuum as well. If you aren't I would say it's a vacuum leak as well.

Pull out your plugs and look at them as well you can tell alot from your plugs.

Damn, you get 15psi at idle...holy crap. Guess you can't have any lag if you are already 15psi at idle! JK

anyway, i don't think a vac leak could cause your car to lose THAT much power. Maybe your clutch is stuck barely engaged.....try adjusting it.
