GSC 272/264's installed

Guys,

Just had the cams installed today. All I can say is wow! I sent the ECU back to Turbo Trix for a mail in flash. The car has a nice loppy idle (No Stalling). This is without cams gears also. Sounds like my old 68 camero. I noticed a huge increase in mid and top end power. The car is so much smoother. The car feels like a new animal. I would recommend these to anyone looking into cams. Also I would recommend Turbo Trix after my tird time using them to tune my car. Prop's to GSC for making a great cam.

Did you have aftermarket cams before these? If so, what duration were they, and how does the 272/264 combo compare in the low to mid range?

Any noticable difference in spool-up time?

Stock cams before. Spool up time seemed much quicker.

Out of curiosity what swayed you to go with the 272/264 combo?

That was what GSC recommend. Also I read the tread EVOTEXAS started. He gave a lot of positive feed back about that set-up.

I am confused. Everyone has been saying to go with:

264 Intake
272 Exhaust

Why the switch to:

272 Intake
264 Exhaust

Thanks

Since the intake cam has a longer duration ans the exhaust cam has a shorter duration, the combustion chamber is going to suck in more air and fuel, while most of it exits through the exhaust port. But the chambers are still going to have extra fuel/air, giving u a longer burn, and therfore more power. I'm not sure if this is an exact reason for this combo, but u can kind of figure it out.

The shop charged me $250 for the install. I think it is a three to four hour job.

GSC recommend this set-up when I was ordering the cams. I think it depends on what you want from your cams. I wanted something in the middle. I prefer more mid range power than all top end. For that application this is what they recommended. After driving the car it seems to be exactly what I got. I will post up some dyno sheets when I get a chance to drive up to Austin and visit MZM.

Cool,

Thanks for the clarification. I want more mid range than top end as well since it is a daily driver.

So basically the straight 272 i/e is gonna have all top-end? I've heard guys who have better results with the straight 272s, especially if the got cam gears. Logic Performance recommended straight 272s, and my car is a daily driver as well. Im not knocking the 272/264 combo, im merely trying to clarify a little bit. Thanks!

Get on a dyno and let us know how the results vary. I'm interested in this setup as well.

A little off topic but 250 for cam installs! That is a great price. I live in live in Michigan and everyone near here wants 500 for the install.
