Just installed my Buschur deluxe FMIC kit

I just got done with installing my Buschur FMIC deluxe kit that comes with the lower piping.

I must say it does look very nice in the bumper and fills the whole mouth and now even my front liscence plate is blocking some it it its so much bigger. It was a whole lotta fun getting the pipe that comes directly off of the turbo without romving the starter.

Some of the issues I ran into were that the pipes dont all line up as well as I had thought they would. They have to be forced into place and you have to remove the stock bolts that hold the upper IC pipe in place. Now that there is nothing to hold the upper IC pipe in place it sits very close to the fan and one time I had stopped and as I was walking away i heard the fan tapping against the stock piping. Not sure yet what I am going to do about this as a permanent fix yet, prop going to make my own upper IC hard pipe. Your suppose to have to do some trimming to the splash sheild, well thats a joke, you have to mutilate it and then it will barely have any mounting points left to stay and and I just wouldnt have trusted it to stay on while rounding a fast corner with it scraping. I left it off and am going to make something out of abs to redirect air out from under the car and cool the brakes all at once. The IC now sits directly above and touching the bumper so it I scrape going in or out of a driveway it will actually be th IC scrapping. That sucks but it was the only way to get the IC piping so much shorter and belive me it is oh so much shorter then stock. The stock IC sprayer still works great.

I havent done much driving with it yet but with the little I have done I noticed I am only at about 18 lbs of boost. The car is notacbly slower now, although I dont have any kind of boost controll that will be in the very near future.

My question now is how many psi can I safely run untuned when I do get the BC? Shouldnt I be able to run a little more since I have a bigger IC? Im thinking 21 psi? Remeber Im in cali so I have the great 91 octane avail to me only, bet your jelous now huh?

Anyway, once I put the BC in and the 272 cams in and the flash what kind of power should I expect?

I wouldn't run more than 20 psi on 91 just to be on the safe side, people may say...o i use 22 or 23 and its fine on 91 but whatever, its your car. Secondly i can't give you a number on gains for those mods but expect anywhere from 40 - 60 whp depending on your car, the flash, altitude, etc. BTW if you need some 272s, pm me.

Yeah I will prob only run a solid hold 20 psi just to be safe. I was just hoping that everyone would say oh yeah 21 is fine with the new IC but its not really worth it in the long run. Dont know what type of flash to go with yet, just cant decide. I just want to run 11s so theyll kick me out of the track then I will have enough go fast stuff and time to work on the suspension.

The car feels slower? Do you think it spools slower or does it actually feel like it's lost power on boost? Does it taper more or less? I wonder if you have a boost leak with your ill fitting upper IC pipe. Does it make any more noise than the stock IC did?

It is deffinatly slower. Not sure if its noisier though cause of the exhaust and intake an BOV VTA. Kinda hard to tell.

I think it is only slower because of the 18 psi it is maxing out out then still tapers to like 14. I am looking for a MBC now to see if this will solve the problem which I do belive it will. I was going to pick up the Greddy profec type S EBC but keep reading of nothing but problems with it so Im gonna pick up the MBC for now and Ill keep ya posted.

I inatalled mine last week and I lose a couple of psi when I did it. Just get a manual boost controller and turn it back up. Mine is set at 21 psi falling to 20 psi at redline (93 octane though).

I would just get an MBC and set it for 20PSI just to be safe but i'm sure you'd be fine running 21, not much of a difference tho.

You have a boost leak. Pressure test your car as the boost should not fall with that FMIC.

Not sure what happened with the install. First the intercooler plumbing should NOT touch the fan. The fan has a shroud on it and the pipes pass next to it, so there is no way for it to touch. Something is wrong there. The stock fits our kit and so does just about any other intercooler plumbing kit on the market. Better double check it.

You should not have noticed a boost loss. The pipe on the turbo is NOT tight, I gaurantee it. We changed the pipe a little to make it easier for you guys to get them on but it is still hard to do.

When you get time do this, take the starter loose and let it hang by the wires, it will be fine. Take the batter cable off. ALSO, take the wastegate actuator off the turbo. THEN put that pipe on the turbo and tighten the bolts. At this point you can put the actuator back on and the starter, no more leaks then. The power will come back you have lost from the leak.

We offer two kits. Both intercoolers are the same except for the short plumbing. You are right the deluxe kit you bought has the very short routing but with the trade off of cutting the undertray. The undertray will go back on, you'll be able to use most of the factory fasteners and if you cut the tray tight to the intercooler it will stay on at 150 mph, we've done it The intercooler sits slightly higher than the tow hook right behind it, if you drive into a high curb, yes, you will damage the intercooler, my suggestion is don't.
